About this deal

The Official Swiss Charts and Music Community: Awards (Pink Floyd; 'P.u.l.s.e. ')". IFPI Switzerland. Hung Medien . Retrieved 10 January 2013. But this 1995 release also had some very remarkable differences besides just the camera angles. Here is a complete list, as compared to the OLB/PPV: I think a lot of people after that at least started asking questions about the politics of world trade and I think that’s enormously worthwhile and I also think, you know, we haven’t finished. I think Bob Geldof is particularly exercised at the moment about ensuring that promises or undertakings…were made.” Gold-/Platin-Datenbank (Pink Floyd; 'Pulse ')" (in German). Bundesverband Musikindustrie . Retrieved 28 May 2020.

The new edit of the concert is a great improvement too. Cuts are now slightly more frequent and many new camera angles have been introduced. All in all, a much more involving visual presentation compared to the old Laserdisc/VHS releases. During High Hopes the 1995 version dubbed the “forever and ever” line into the audio (not present in the OLB) and this was kept in subsequent releases. In 2019 as part of The Later Years boxset, the P·U·L·S·E video received again a quality upgrade (as much as the tapes allowed) for its first release in BD.These changes meant that the first official release of the video was a “cleaned-up” version that fixed all the mistakes of the OLB. It also became the standard for 11 years until the upgraded official DVD was released. However, some +3 minutes were cut. minute and 16 seconds during the final solo of Comfortably Numb were deleted from this release to cut some not-so-perfectly-played bars.

DVD Chronicles Final Pink Floyd Tour". Billboard. Prometheus Global Media. 11 October 2005. Archived from the original on 29 January 2014 . Retrieved 16 October 2020. As a compilation of performances done during the European portion of Pink Floyd’s Division Bell Tour, the recording spanned from 17 August to 29 October 1994. The album was released half a year later, on 29 May 1995. All the other cuts (Sorrow, One of These Days, On the Run, Comfortably Numb) are the same as in the 1995 video. The new cut in TGGITS deleting a good part of Claudia Fontaine’s performance is present in this DVD for the first time. The 2006 DVD also uses more travelling shots, and more zoom out/in shots than the previous release. The bigger changes are related to the cuts that effectively shorten the songs in the later editions. So, if you wish to have a complete P·U·L·S·E you’ll need to source a copy of the original broadcast or PPV. The second longest is the 1995 edition; for this you’ll need to get a very good rip of the VHS (or a good LaserDisc rip, but you’ll need to reorganize some of the songs).

The Pulse DVD vividly captures the essence of Pink Floyd, both as a live band and as a visual tour de force, qualities that were both well to the fore at their show-stopping appearance at this year’s Live 8.

Notes

Matrix / Runout (DVD2, layer 0, variant 2): [Mediamotion logo] www.mediamotion.com 5442779-0 PAL @ 5 This release also sees the reintroduction of the iconic pulsating light as per the original 1995 CD release, this time operated by 2 replaceable AA batteries. After Eclipse, while Gilmour thanks Roger, the audio is the same. But the 1995 release uses a shot from behind the stage; and curiously enough this shot is footage from a few seconds later when the band raises their hands and waves goodbye.
