About this deal

The drydown turns into a a musky floral... pleasant, to be sure. I can detect a hint of patchouli, but it's not overwhelming or overpowering; it's just there to anchor the fragrance, and it never takes center stage. As the fragrance fades, it turns a bit powdery, but not obnoxiously so. And lastly...yes...it is the cheaper (98% identical beautiful smell) of Narciso Rodriguez For Her. Give it a try everyone. Smells absolutely "Lovely" as it's perfectly named. a b Burr, Chandler (October 16, 2005). "One Nosy Dame". The New York Times. Archived from the original on April 16, 2018 . Retrieved April 14, 2018. NOTTT for little girls. This fragrance is for women! It's a strong...mature...(not old ladyish), musky apple martini. It's VERY refreshing in the warm weather but in my opinion, it's very versatile and can be worn all year long. It smells as I remember - soft, inviting, cozy, elegant. It's like the gray cashmere sweater of fragrances. To some, it might seem boring. But to me it's classic, timeless, and versatile, and works in most situations: at home, brunch with friends, a casual dinner out with my husband, running errands. It's also a great office fragrance.

Upon first spray - Lovely and Narcisso Rodriques For Her are the exact chord, however - Narcisso Rodriques FH has more apparent notes that are more distinct. There is a minty fresh note which is singing out rather loudly upon the first spray of NRFH. This minty note seems to be merging into a note that smells like Lavender. There are more evident woodsy notes in NRFH. I immediately see her wearing the tulle ballerina tutu like dress that was just a puff of soft ballet pink. I think that, what I initially thought was horrible, was the acrid permeation of the bergamot. But the drydown, especially after about an hour, is - wow - sublime. And, I mean, SUBLIME. On me, up front, this smells like a blend of lilac and lily of the valley. (Since neither of those are listed notes, I can only scratch my head in bewilderment. Oh, well? I guess fragrance is truly individual? I don't know what to make of it!) Since I *looooove* both lilacs *and* lily of the valley, and rarely find fragrances that represent them with any accuracy, I can hardly be disappointed by my discovery. However, I am genuinely baffled, because that's not what the listed notes proclaim, and that's not what most other people think this smells like! It also has a minty fresh note that morphs into the musk with almost a lavender type musky smell. This starts much more tolerable than a lot of the aldehyde bomb type perfumes where you have to power through the first hour before you finally get to the dry down where the perfume is more beautiful. This starts well from the beginning. This is more of a linear perfume, it doesn't transition or morph into different fragrance notes during the transitions from first spray to final dry down. The benefit of linear, this is a great fragrance for layering other perfumes that need just a little bit of oomph - or the added note of musk. Lovely is linear. What you smell, is what you get. This doesn't evolve and carry you on a mythic journey anywhere. a b Naughton, Julie (September 10, 2005). "A Lovely Success". WWD. Archived from the original on April 16, 2018 . Retrieved April 15, 2018.

Lovely is a 2005 perfume released by Sarah Jessica Parker. Parker’s first fragrance, Lovely is a light floral musk based on a blend Parker had made for herself. The perfume’s formal development was the subject of a 2008 book by New York Times perfume critic Chandler Burr called The Perfect Scent: A Year Behind the Scenes of the Perfume Industry in Paris and New York. [1] Product development [ edit ] I ended up liking this, but I did not experience what most other people seem to experience! (The whole "lavender/bergamot/martini/orange" thing? I didn't get any of that. At ALL. Which, as it turned out, was fine in the end.)Cole, Bethan (November 4, 2011). "Are they not fragrant?". Financial Times. Archived from the original on May 8, 2018 . Retrieved May 7, 2018.

My bottle is, most likely, an earlier one -- older, yet stored in darkness and proper temperatures. (My mom included this bottle in a box of scents she no longer used and decided to give to me to appreciate -- as she knows how much I love perfume -- and she bought it when the fragrance first came out. So, my best guess is that the juice in the bottle I sprayed on my skin hails from the mid-to-late aughts.) It is like extracting the basic essence of the perfume notes (although it is missing the minty-fresh note that I smell in NRFH...and has replaced that note with more of a powdery type note).

Parker later released a flanker to the Lovely pillar fragrance, entitled Lovely Sheer. Created by the same perfumers who worked on the original fragrance (Gavarry and le Guernec), Lovely Sheer has notes of mandarin, bergamot, orange flower absolute, gardenia water, pink pepper, blonde woods, vetiver, musk and amber. [10] Shapouri, Beth (October 22, 2015). "6 Fascinating Fragrance Facts We Bet You Never Knew About Sarah Jessica Parker". Glamour. Archived from the original on April 16, 2018 . Retrieved April 15, 2018. And all of the above is nice about Lovely, but something else about it excites me a little, and I was surprised to get there. When I reviewed its classic, arguable point of inspiration, Narciso for Her, I called it "clean sheets on date night." Narciso for Her is what the aspirationally beautiful woman in a hot (straight, unfortunately), well-to-do couple wears for her anniversary date, and what she reapplies before sex, envisioning it as a perfectly orchestrated romantic performance— something that would look great on camera. After sex that was much messier, emotional, and more human than she'd expected, her perfume has faded and blended with the scent of sweat to become something different. Lovely smells like pillow talk, the vulnerability that follows sex, especially with someone you love. It makes me imagine the thoughts a safe, loving partner would be having in this pillow talk: seeing her hair loose, and her makeup faded, and inhaling that lingering, slightly tampered Narciso smell, and thinking This is the woman I love. If Narciso smells like some kind of promise of sex, Lovely smells like the afterglow of a promise fulfilled. I was thinking of gifting it to my mother, but now I may keep it and then get another one for her. Very nice bedtime scent as others said, and last time I tested it, it gave a gentle scent cloud for at least 6 hrs.

In Search of 'The Perfect Scent' ". All Things Considered. NPR. January 21, 2008. Archived from the original on January 10, 2018 . Retrieved April 15, 2018.

Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely is more like the dry down effect of Narcisso Rodriques For Her (without the stronger minty fresh note in For Her's first chord). In 2008, Chandler Burr published a book, The Perfect Scent: A Year Behind the Scenes of the Perfume Industry in Paris and New York, which chronicled the development of Lovely, comparing it to the development of Hermès fragrance by Jean-Claude Ellena, Un Jardin sur Le Nil. [9] This wears well. It is not a stand out, this is like wearing a soft cozy sweater that is really comfortable and pillow soft. Lovely is a soft, powdery, discreet, and very intimate fragrance, announced as a "silky white amber fragrance." It possesses an elegance characteristic of classic fragrances, and yet the fragrance is quite modern and very charming.
