About this deal

This seems some sort of artwork. Like making the smell of, in my mind, a big city. But then for real. Not some fake flowery smell and name it after a big city. I can appreciate that! Very interesting! The elegant Senti Orchid diffuser is an innovative way to scent the home, workplace, or even hotels. It is beautifully crafted delivering scent through sculpture and flowers. As with any raw material that is both prized and in short supply, synthetic variants have been developed to replace it. The largest companies responsible for producing synthetics, flavors, and bases for the perfume industry, such as Firmenich and Givaudan, have each developed several high-quality oud oil ‘replacers’ that are used in commercial perfumes to approximate key aspects of the aroma profile of oud oil or oud wood. There are many of these oud synthetics on the market, but here are a few of the most noteworthy or most commonly-used ones.

I originally put this review under the parfum as I only have a small 10ml and didn't realize it was the EDP. Vietnamese oud oil is available these days primarily as Vietnamese- style oud oil rather than the actual oil from Vietnam itself. That’s because it is next to impossible to source good Vietnamese oud wood for distillation into oil, every piece of wood brought out of the jungles having already been bought by the big Japanese incense companies and private collectors. If you want to smell Vietnamese oud in the ‘flesh’, so to speak, buy Baieido or Shoyeido incense, which uses this precious agarwood in powdered form. The wood itself is otherwise largely unavailable to distillers. SWY has more quality but in the air they smell exactly the same ! if you're not a collector and want to smell SWY Leather just grab this one!

Oud

What amazes me about this, is how I can smell almost all the notes which are mentioned very clearly and separately.

It's also reminiscent of 1 Million, just a touch with the opening sweetness, but it's not as cloying or in your face as the Paco Rabanne monster that everyone and his grandad oversprays, it's far more intimate, more sophisticated yet more opulent. I am suggesting to start simple and produce Yalang yalang with “ new item that haven’t been explored in the market”.

SIMILAR: These are examples of fragrances in the same genre. Amouage Jubilation XXV Man's EDP is a great oud and sweet fruity fragrance; There are literally no other notes in this frag that exist past the 3-minute mark. I get maybe a little lavender-smelling something in the first 3 minutes of the fragrance...after that it's cinnamon-leather until I take a shower to get this mess off me. Borneo oud oils come from a group of different species of Aquilaria trees ( A. beccariana, A. apiculate, A. cumingiana, A. filaria, A. hirta, A.malaccensis, and A. microcarpa) all growing on the island of Borneo, which has a steamy rainforest climate. In the case of Borneo oud oil, terroir and style seem to be far more important than the species, because the oils produced from wood on the island all display the same general aroma profile regardless of the species used in the distillation. Borneo oils and wood are highly regarded in the oud world for their uniquely fresh, light character.

People usually refer to Borneos as Borneo- style oils not because Borneo oud is extinct (it is not) but in recognition of the fact that it is the scent profile of the Borneo terroir that is important, rather than the species. Specifically, with skillful distillation techniques, it is possible to imbue a non-Borneo distillate with some of the characteristics of a Borneo. Thus, the argument for calling them Borneo- style oils rather than purely Borneo oud oils. There is something utterly captivating about this perfume. That being said I really just don't like it. It is very masculine (something I'm beginning to associate with this house) and just not something I can see people smelling on me and complimenting. On the contrary I'm sure the stench would scare them all away. There are just some perfumes that really take a person who can appreciate the nuances of perfumes to enjoy, and this is one of them. This rapidly lifts off my skin (unfortunately, because that's actually my favourite bit!) to a creamy, dark, sexy, slightly spicy floral. Very weird and interestingly unique. i blind bought this along with other fragrances and this one is interesting but however its not my style. i can see someones conifdent and mature puling this off, but not for me lol.

Contained in an elegant 100 mL bottle, the scent escapes thanks to its powerful spray. Thus, this oriental fragrance wi The very best examples display an aroma that’s close to the smell of oud being burned as incense: green, damp, pure, and smoky The idea of producing different versions of one perfume is really based on marketing. Dior homme the classic is super nice and unique perfume in the market, why do we need to make sport, cologn, and intense version? The only thing I can think of is to widen th range to cover more people taste and increase the marketing of that successful products. The other thing that comes to my mind, is that it is easier to manipulate a scent and twist it instead of creating a new fragrance from the scratch. It's strong but not overwhelming for me, and I've worn it year round for the last five years or so. Daytime and evening. Sorry if you've ever been on the tube with me in the Summer at rush hour. That being said, sillage isn't as giant as I initially thought it would be, or my skin chemistry does something to those big truffle notes everyone gets. It does last nicely on my clothes, but not on my skin as much. Sometimes I'm hit by a note of smoky chocolate on my arms the next morning, but it's typically more powdery scents that linger on me, sadly. Boy... this is STRONG! This fragrance just makes me think of bakhoor in the opening and then dries down to the smell of a man who hasn't bathed for days smoking cigarettes on his leather couch. It is a very smoky, dirty and dusty smell to me and it doesn't smell clean or pleasant to me at all. I wish I got more of the zesty and sweet orange to freshen this up more and maybe some added neroli or orange blossom would have been nice too? I just personally don't understand why anyone would want to smell like this. I also couldn't get much of the pink pepper at all, other than small whiffs here and there. The oud just took over everything...
