About this deal

After 22 years behind bars Fletch wants nothing more than to keep his nose clean but history has a way of repeating itself.. His children, having grown up without his influence Kit and Austin have found themselves drawn into the gangster life themselves.. and it’s not been an easy ride thanks to the despicable Rosco Taylor. Recognizing the physical sensations in your body—as basic as feeling cold or hungry—is at the core of your sense of self, but for most people it’s so natural that you probably don’t even think about it. Use this exercise to notice your body awareness. He recognises a wide range of manifestations of trauma, promotes new trauma-related diagnoses, affirms a broad definition of what counts as a traumatic event, and recommends diverse modes of treatment. The same feminising of trauma can be seen more symbolically in van der Kolk’s emphasis on the bodily and relational dimensions of trauma. Historically, the gender binary has been overlaid on the mind/body distinction, and on the distinction between stereotypically masculine independence and stereotypically feminine relatedness. Some survivors lose feeling in whole areas of their bodies, and can’t even determine what kind of object they’re holding in their palm by touch alone. Some survivors of chronic childhood trauma are so disconnected from their bodies that they can’t even recognize themselves in the mirror. Sensory Unawareness in the Brain

Recognizing the physical sensations in your body—as basic as feeling cold or hungry—is at the core of your sense of self: How can you know what you enjoy, need, or want if you don’t understand how you feel on the most basic level? Once again the reader is reunited with the fantastic Fletch, who was originally introduced in "The Price." After reading "The Score" Fletch has become my favourite character of the books I have read by Kerry Kaya. Dangerous, mysterious but also incredibly likeable. I found myself questioning if I have a bit of a fictional crush on him. He defines the phrase "Bad Boy."

If you are looking for a gangland crime thriller read then you really need to have a look at this book from Kerry Kaya. It has a very addictive brutal side as well as being very twisted.

Sun lounger, open my kindle and read the latest book called The Score by Kerry Kaya......Just perfect! Fletch is thrown into the deep end to save his kids. With the help of old friends Fletch battles his past and does whatever he can to keep his family safe and make amends for past deeds… but can he fix things without getting blood on his hands? The book adopts several standard features of the popular psychology genre: case studies from the author’s clinical practice, autobiographical reflections, and sharp critiques of mainstream views to assure readers the author is not merely doing good but slaying dragons in the process. The argument that broad concepts of trauma produce fragility rests on the belief that defining moderate life challenges as mind-shattering traumas might undermine our resilience. The DSM’s third edition, published in 1980, recognised PTSD for the first time. But the fourth and fifth editions, DSM-IV (1994) and DSM-5 (2013), would have none of these new proposals. The Score is the best book of the Off-Campus series yet, and that’s saying something. Elle Kennedy has truly outdone herself this time. This isn't the first book by Kerry Kaya that I have ready, and I may have liked this one even more than the previous one. People are seeing trauma everywhere and re-conceptualising their own experiences of misery and misadventure in its terms. They are doing so, at least in part, because the concept’s meaning has been stretched. More on that later.

book from the Things We Left Behind: the heart-pounding new book from the

The main character is Fletch who has just been released from prison after serving a 20-year sentence for murdering his violent father. His children Kit and Austin are now adults who have their own lives. They don't know or want to know their father who they have been poisoned by over the years by their drug-taking mother. But he wants to win them over, he deeply loves his children and wants to win their love and trust. His only ally is his lifelong best friend Stevie. Van der Kolk presents childhood trauma as a “hidden epidemic”, swept under the carpet by society at large and by psychiatry in particular. He advocates for policy responses that combat the economic and societal drivers of childhood adversity, and for better recognition by organised psychiatry of the mental health impacts of trauma. I have loved gangland/gangster type books for years but have never read Kaya before, until this one. I am currently struggling with my reading mojo, personal life stuff, but this managed to yank me out for a bit. Fletch done his crime (avenged his wee brother) and now he is out, he left behind his mrs and two young kids, a boy and a girl. A twenty year stretch is a long time but he left plenty to ensure his family would be set. His girl moved on and his kids grew up, Fletch has no idea what has went down in his absence and not everyone is happy Fletch is out.

A New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Elle Kennedy grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, and holds a B.A. in English from York University. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a writer, and actively began pursuing that dream when she was a teenager. The bottom-up approach to treatment uses physical experiences that connect the body and mind. This empowers patients to inhabit their bodies, be present, and learn how they can affect their emotions—all of which help them to counteract feelings of helplessness, rage, and emotional collapse. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) The governing body of the club was the committee. Some difficulty in description is caused by the formation of committees for various aspects of the club's activities. These are normally called committees, but occasionally sub-committees, and the committee itself is sometimes referred to as the general committee. The appointment of a match committee seems, from at least 1876, to have been made at the first committee meeting following the AGM, and at the 14 May 1879 committee meeting, the match committee was appointed, as was 'a sub-committee to frame regulations for the ground, pavilion, ground bowlers, ground boys and generally to supervise the arrangements of the ground'. Kerry Kaya has never disappointed me yet her gritty gangland thrillers are just awesome - read this in two sittings. In 2022, in the New York Times, Jessica Bennett asked “if everything is trauma, is anything?” and denounced “post-traumatic hyperbole”. Lexi Pandell, writing for Vox, argued this “word of the decade” has become close to meaningless.
