About this deal

So I kept this book handy in my house and both my parents who were born and raised in Italy, loved looking through it when they came over for a visit. My husband translated the text (my parents read only Italian and French) and they spent a few hours just admiring the beautiful photographs. My Dad especially, who loves architecture, called it "un capolavoro". A masterpiece of a book. My husband, a history buff, loved that the book detailed historical aspects of the bridges. The Palace bridges were my favorite. Mollo, Victor (1947). Streamlined Bridge or Bidding without Tears. Illustrated by Anton (1sted.). London: David Marlowe Ltd. Bridges Of Paris is one of those books that you not only enjoy pouring over, but you will also want to proudly display in your home. It is the perfect gift for business associates and those impossible-to-please people on your gift list. At the beginning of each section you will see a satellite map showing and naming all the bridges. Then the individual bridge is named again on another satellite map at the opening of the section for that specific bridge. Vital statistics are included: when the first bridge in this location was built, when the current bridge was opened, the length, width, how many arches, and what the bridge is used for -pedestrians and/or traffic and a brief history. It is absolutely an ideal way to present and organize the information and the photos of the bridges. The author's photographs capture the beauty of the bridges during changing seasons and different times of the day. Books to Improve Your Game of BridgeAnnually since 2004, the IBPA [10] has chosen one bridge-related title of exceptional merit as follows:

Several encyclopedias on the subject of bridge have provided bibliographies of bridge related publications. When I was given the opportunity to review this I was not expecting much to be honest. I have looked at several coffee table type books and for me I was not impressed enough to buy any with the exception of possible two or three. For one I do not have a great place to display them as well as the fact I always have little ones around and for the price of many I just would not buy one. This book is amazing! The photography is gorgeous, the colors... fabulous, everything about this book is absolutely stunning! The quality of the book is superb. This book arrived this morning and I literally could not put it down from the second I opened the cover. This is the most beautiful book I have ever owned! Realizing that he did not have a good answer to this question, Michael decided to take what he calls "a classical mythological journey [as] an American artist in Paris" and set aside an entire year immersing himself in French culture to discover his authentic artistic self. During that time, he studied each bridge and sought to capture the essence of each in their many different facets.

Emery, Sue (1977). No Passing Fancy – Fifty Years of Contract Bridge. Memphis: American Contract Bridge League. p.128. The following books provide insights into the people and culture of contract bridge and while they may contain occasional references to certain technical aspects of the game, they are generally not instructional in theme. Fictional novels with a bridge theme are listed separately.

Truscott, Alan; Truscott, Dorothy (2002). The New York Times Bridge Book: An Acetodal History of the Development, Personalities and Strategies of the World's Most Popular Card Game. New York: St. Martin's Press. pp. 263. ISBN 0-312-29090-X. I could tell that the author put his heart into this book. Not only are there gorgeous photos of the bridges and the scenery around them, including pedestrians, but at the beginning he explains how this book came about and there is a history of bridges in Paris. Each one of Bristol’s bridges, from oldest to newest, has a fascinating story which is woven intimately into the 1,000-year history of the city. Why was it built? What was involved in its design, engineering and construction? What dramatic events sometimes swirled around and perhaps on it? Hamman, Bob; Manley, Brent (1994). At the Table: My Life and Times. ISBN 0-908065-45-0. {{ cite book}}: CS1 maint: location missing publisher ( link)The importance of bridges to the city of Bristol is written into its very name; the first written reference to the city, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle of 1051, calls it Brycgstow, which means ‘place by the bridge’. This walk will take you into strange and not-so-strange places where you will discover the delightful and the dreadful! I hope readers will enjoy exploring Bristol in this new and unusual way". Klinger, Ron (2001). Guide to Better Card Play. Master Bridge Series (Newed.). London: Cassell in association with Peter Crawley. ISBN 0-304-35769-3. Baron, Randall; Stewart, Frank. The Devyn Press Bridge Teacher's Manual – Vol I to III; The Bridge Student Text – Vol I to III. Devyn Press. It was an enjoyment to read about the history behind these famous and some not quite so famous bridges. My favorite bridge is the “Pont Du Carrousel.” The architectural design has been deemed “old-fashioned,” but that is what adds to its charm. A mystique surrounds the allegorical sculptures with the Seine speaking the most to me. They represent “Industry, Abundance, Paris, and the Seine.” And the pink glow of sunset that encompasses the bridge is simply breathtaking.
