About this deal

Jay, T. & Janschewitz, K. (2012). The science of swearing. Observer, 25(5), May/June. Retrieved 18 June 2013 from tinyurl.com/cw9fxnc When a good thing goes bad it’s not the end of the world / It’s just the end of a world that you had with one girl” A lyric about winning: A paradoxical verse where Drake once again boasts and brags about himself. Drake says he’s not the “best” at what he does, but he’ll come out the winner regardless of the competition. A lyric about selflessness – According to Genius, this line is inspired by a popular phrase among members of the Jamaican Rastafari community. Drake isn’t a selfish guy, he wants the best for the ones he loves and you should, too. Swear On This Life reminded me a lot of Colleen Hoover writings who, as you know, I am a big fan of. I loved that it was an easy, fast read and I didn’t have to think too much. I was able to just read and enjoy and guys, I haven’t been feeling like this for a very long time.

A lyric about money – Again, Drake boasts about his bank account because well, it’s a recurring theme in rap music, right? Great to use when loneliness gets the best of you. I’ve read all of Renee Carlino’s books, and Swear on This Life is by far the best one. This author always has a way with words, but she truly outdid herself with this story. I am not always a fan of second chance romances. There always seems to be something that doesn’t work for me, but this one was written perfectly. There is nothing I would change. I loved every word! A lyric about relationship types: You can always rely on Drake to explain the meaning of relationships, right? This verse pretty much tells you how to define whatever it is you’re into. Stephens, R. & Umland, C. (2011). Swearing as a response to pain – Effect of daily swearing frequency. Journal of Pain, 12, 1274–1281. Swear on This Life' was consuming, though-provoking and such an emotional read from the very beginning until the end. I loved the title, the premise of this book and even the simple, yet meaningful cover. This story was equally heart-breaking and heart-warming so be prepared to be emotional exhausted at times, to smile and most of all, to feel. I love the concept of a story within another story and Mrs. Carlino did a fantastic job with both stories, both of them being so well written and so gripping.

Interesting books

In trans women's eyes, I see a wisdom that can only come from having to fight for your right to be recognised as female, a raw strength that only comes from unabashedly asserting your right to be feminine in an inhospitable world. The shed housed a bunch of old tools that no one used anymore, and it was just beyond a small patch of trees where our property line met the Fishers’. You couldn’t see the shed from either one of our houses. After years of torment from Mikey and Alex, I hit my breaking point when quiet, reserved Jax decided to join in on their juvenile idiocy. Reading the events of Emiline’s childhood wasn’t always easy. In a lot of ways, her childhood was pretty awful. She didn’t have a lot of love, a lot of money, or a lot of much of anything. What she did have is a best friend that meant the world to her. He was everything. And he made her life bearable. Together, they each had a person to lean on. Someone there for them and always in their corner.

It feels like the only time you see me is when you turn your head to the side and look at me differently” Carlino proficiently intersperses parts of that book within this, and we get to read it with Em, concurrently.A lyric about growth – With change and growth comes a new personality, but for Drake, he’s still the same humble guy he was before all the money and fame. When people come at you with the “you’ve changed”, this one-liner will be convenient.
