About this deal

There are a lot of weedkillers available, yet we only really recommend 5 different weedkillers. Our top recommended and probably the most effective is Gallup Glyphosate Weedkiller, it’s probably the strongest weedkiller available to the average person.

If you’ve waited and still nothing happens, there may be reasons that the weed killer hasn’t worked. Did you apply it in the plant’s seasonal active period? Was the solution concentrated enough? Did it rain within eight hours of application and so wash the weed killer away? Fix the problem if possible (except if the weed is dormant) and reapply the solution. One disadvantage of using this weed killer is that you have to be careful with disposing of your grass clippings. Because of the chemicals used, grass clippings should not be disposed of in the standard council-collected green waste. If you choose to compost them , they need to be composted for at least 9 months before being suitable to use as mulch on the garden. Vitax SBK Brushwood Tough Weedkiller does what you want and doesn’t do what you don’t want. It kills woody weeds and tree stumps, and also works well on broadleaf weeds. It’s effective if you want to clear brush from the hidden parts at the end of your garden. But it doesn’t harm your grass. Use this close to the lawn without worry. Or even use it to remove weeds from within your lawn. One downside is the length of time (six weeks) you have to wait before applying the solution and replanting. With glyphosate as its primary ingredient, this product does need to be handled and used with care. It’s toxic to pollinators and pond life, and children / pets need to be kept off the treated area until it’s dried. It does take a while to dry – up to 48 hours. Our Best Weed Killer for woody weeds and tree stumps is Roundup Super Concentrate Tough Weedkiller. It’s based on glyphosate as well, but it’s particularly powerful against brambles, nettles, and dandelions. But, once again, watch out for your lawn. Because it will kill anything it touches it is not suitable for use on lawns as it won’t only target the problematic weeds, it will kill all your grass as well. How to Apply Safety and Environmental Impact: It was important to assess the overall environmental impact of each weed killer as well as the risk to the user’s safety. As a result, any product where the nozzle leaked was rated lower, as this risked harm to the gardener using it. Products with excessively harmful chemicals, such as Glyphosate, were marked down, as these pose a risk to wildlife. Just like our previous two recommendations, this weed killer is also biodegradable and is broken down by the microorganisms in the soil. This Resolva product is a systematic, non-selective, and non-residual weed killer. It seeps into any foliage it touches and travels down into the root system where it destroys the growth enzymes. As a result, it kills the weed and prevents future growth which is what helps makes it so effective.

Whilst Resolva Weed Killer is powerful, it often takes several days to see results. Weeds are more likely to die after 4 – 7 days than 24 hours. However, after a week, once they’re dead, they’re generally dry enough to simply pull out of the ground. Whilst not a particularly fast-acting weed killer, compared to those which show results in a couple of days, results on weeds should start to be visible after a couple of weeks. Although it’s one of the strongest weed killers, it may take a few weeks to notice brambles dying off. A repeat application after six weeks might be required. I think we all agree that having the odd weed here and there is par for the course in the garden. However, those pesky plants can spread so rapidly, they easily have the potential to invade entire lawns and flowerbeds. The Deadfast Concentrated Weed Killer Sachets is for those who don’t want to worry about mixing the right amount of product. It comes with 12 sachets and is able to cover up to 720 sqm. You can simply dispense a sachet of product into a watering can, add water and then apply to the weeds you are wanting to treat. If you’ve waited and nothing has happened, there could be a number of reasons why the weed killer hasn’t worked. Did you use it during the plant’s active season? Was the solution sufficiently concentrated? Is it possible that it rained within eight hours after application, washing the weed killer away? If feasible, fix the problem (unless the weed is dormant) and reapply the treatment. Final ConclusionAs well as tough, woody weeds, SBK is also capable of getting rid of tree stumps; a diluted solution needs to be poured into drilled holes in the wood which turns the stump soft and mushy after about a month. The 1 litre super concentrate formula we reviewed treats a maximum area of 90m2 so gives you plenty of coverage even on fairly large areas. However, some online reviewers state that they had to use more than the recommended concentration of solution to water to obtain any results.
