It brought a sense of danger to the book! An extra spice bit of spice to make the book even better~ Bei mir ist es nun schon wieder eine ganze Weile her, dass ich die dreibändige Weihnachtsserie von Matt Haig gelesen und gehört habe und obwohl meine Erinnerungen an die genauen Ereignisse inzwischen nicht mehr die frischesten sind, habe ich völlig problemlos in „Eine Weihnachtsmaus namens Miika“ hineingefunden. Meinem Empfinden nach kann man das Buch auch ohne jegliche Vorkenntnisse lesen bzw. hören. Es hängt zwar mit der eigentlichen Reihe zusammen, erzählt aber dennoch eine eigenständige und in sich abgeschlossene Geschichte.

They had ordinary dark eyes, ordinary pink noses, ordinary tails. One mouse was a bit scruffier than the other.Bridget the Brave laughed. Going outside seemed less scary than being found out as the mushroom thief. He would venture into the World Outside with nothing at all. It wasn’t because mice don’t give each other names. Because they do. Of course they do. It’s just that normally parents give baby mice their names when they are born, and the trouble with Miika’s parents was that they didn’t actually know he existed. And he knew that if he waited until morning, he wouldn’t get a bite of the mushroom. And it looked so tasty. Overall this is a lovely book with a great story which I’m sure many children will enjoy. It works well as a standalone story and is a brilliant story with a heart-warming ending about a mouse discovering the truth about himself and friendships. It’s also a funny story too, especially later when the trolls are involved, it just becomes even more funny and silly, but also brilliant too. A great story which is perfect for reading at Christmastime. An hour later, Miika was still nibbling on that delicious elf cheese as he rested against the big brown furry belly of his favorite reindeer of all, Blitzen.
