About this deal

The book started off with great promise, and by the quarter-way point I was getting into it, convinced that some big plot points were on their way. Adam Scott after the death of his father, visits the lawyer with his mother and sister. Although he knew there will not be much of financial benefit, he comes in possession of a letter that can change his life around. It the letter that caused disgraced to his father who worked for the army Don't be disrespectful of the dead," said his mother, the same look of fear returning to her face. "I begged your father to destroy that envelope," she added, in a voice that was barely a whisper. Revolution, Tsar Nicholas II obviously saw Rublev's masterpiece as his passport to freedom in the West. He must have had a copy made which he then left on his study wall where the original had previously hung.'" The Russian leader looked up. "Beyond that we have little to go on."

Although tempted to run Columbo through, Montoya sensibly decided against making a bad situation worse

Cast & Crew

I liked the plot of A Matter of Honour and how you developed suspicions of all the characters. The pace was good and the story was engaging. I liked how all the little details sparked in your head making you think, “this is relevant”. Most of the first Colombo series were pretty good, and this is one of the better ones. The whole series in fact ranks up there among the most enjoyable, each episode sprinkled judiciously with touches of originality in the script and characters, if not always in the plots. Colombo, from the beginning, always made effective use of such props as his raincoat, his cigar, and his car. Later episodes, alas, showed signs of flagging interest on the part of the writers and producers. Several of them had a disgusting ice-cream-eating floppy eared dog. That dog represented nothing more than desperation, and contempt for the viewers who, it must have been assumed, were getting bored with jokes about the raincoat. I have a cat. Or at least I did until the perfidious beast took off on me three weeks ago. I am a fan of a number of Jeffery Archer's other books such as 'As the Crow Flies', however this is not up to that same standard. In Appleshaw, England, Captain Adam Scott is with his sister and their mother at their solicitor's, to get to know the contents of his father's will. It is now June 1966. And there's a surprise, a yellowed envelope, containing a letter mentioning a gift that has been placed in a Swiss bank in 1938. The same envelope that held the whispers of treachery by his father which he had to endure while growing up.

On the bridge, Mendon walks around commenting on what the crew are doing and suggesting he has a more efficient way in a pompous manner. He mentions to Wesley that he intends to relay these observations to the captain. Later, Mendon notices something in a scan of the Pagh's hull. From the initial scan, it appears to be some form of subatomic life unknown to the computer. He decides to continue his analysis without informing Picard or Worf. A momentary reference to the Japanese series Dirty Pair is made on a Bridge Science Station monitor when Mendon first observes the sub-atomic bacteria on the Pagh, after being chastised by Worf. The reference takes the form of "OP KEI" and "OP YURI", and is located beneath "QUARK POPU(LATION)" in the lower right hand corner of the screen. Starting a more serious conversation, one of them says they are alike – he also has a father and mother. His mother is still alive, but his father was killed gloriously in battle at Tranome Sar. Riker asks about Klag's parents, and he tells him ashamedly that his father was captured by the Romulans and not allowed to die with honor. However he escaped and will die an old man on Qo'noS, weakened, useless and without honor. He tells Riker he doesn't talk to him anymore, but Riker urges him to try.

Montoya finally loses his cool. “I don’t appreciate this little war of nerves you are conducting, Columbo,” he seethes. “I am Luis Montoya! And you are in my country! If you understood the first thing about bullfighting, you would not question Hector’s death!”
