About this deal

In our opinion, AMD's recent Ryzen XT lineup didn't change the performance calculus much. Outside of a few exceptions in professional workloads, those chips offer a negligible performance increase in most real-world applications, but at an increased price point. As such, we still recommend AMD's standard X-series models for the best value. Cutress, Ian (October 28, 2019). "The Intel Core i9-9990XE Review: All 14 Cores at 5.0 GHz". AnandTech . Retrieved November 2, 2019.

The way to use it is very simple. Simply select one of the profiles, save the settings and try stability tests. In simple terms, processor manufacturers only ever guarantee two values which are tied together - when all cores are running at base frequency, the processor should be running at or below the TDP rating. All turbo modes and power modes above that are not covered by warranty. Intel kind of screwed this up with the Tiger Lake launch in September 2020, by refusing to define a TDP rating for its new processors, instead going for a range. Obfuscation like this is a frustrating endeavor for press and end-users alike. It's rational to assume the availability issues stem from the 10900K's position at the top of the Comet Lake-S binning chart – it's a premium-binned chip and there simply might not be enough chips coming out of that fabs that land on the higher end of the binning distribution, making it hard to satisfy demand. The resulting price gouging only serves to widen the pricing gap between Intel's halo model and AMD's competing chips that already hold several key advantages. However, for our tests in this review, we measure the power consumption of the processor in a variety of different scenarios. These include full workflows, real-world image-model construction, and others as appropriate. These tests are done as comparative models. We also note the peak power recorded in any of our tests. By setting Adaptive Voltage to 1.4V we lift the voltage for ratios of 52X and up. This is particularly necessary to ensure stability at the highest ratio we have set: 54X for up to 2 cores. It will also be applied when 3 cores are running at 52X. However, for the other configurations, from 4 cores at 51x to 10 cores at 50x, the default vf curve will be followed. All models support up to DDR5-4800 or DDR4-3200 memory, and 16 lanes of PCI Express 5.0 + 4 lanes of PCIe 4.0. We've experienced that single-core performance is essential for some games, as many don't take full advantage of multiple cores. Comparing the maximum stable Prime 95 results from our videos with the Z490 Carbon EK X and the Z590 Carbon EK X, we find the following: System Specifications

The performance uplift is most notable in multi-threaded benchmark applications which would typically be heavily constraint by the default power limits. All models support: SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2, FMA3, Speed Shift Technology (SST), Intel 64, XD bit (an NX bit implementation), Intel VT-x, Intel VT-d, Intel TXT, Hyper-threading, Turbo Boost 3.0, AES-NI, Smart Cache, Thread Director, DL Boost, and GNA 3.0. Do note that the Memory Try It! function will also adjust voltages if necessary. For example, it will adjust the system memory voltage as well as the CPU System Agent voltage. Make sure to verify the settings and ensure you are comfortable with the raised voltages. Intel's new chip puts a teraflop in your desktop. Here's what that means". PopSci. June 1, 2017 .
