Three lines of TV make up TCL’s most recent, budget-oriented TVs: the C64K Series, the RC630K Series and the C745K Series. These TVs scale up in terms of price and features like HDR, QLED displays, Dolby Atmos, and more.
With this feature, all you have to do is say “Ok Google” into the remote control or your voice assistant of choice (Siri or Alexa), and then search for what you want on your screen! To get things started: go into Settings > Search & Assistant > Voice Control > On-Screen Remote Control and toggle it on. The C835 does also have an enhanced audio system, with a 2.1 Onkyo sound system using down-firing 3-way speakers, along with a built-in woofer also offering support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, along with Adaptive Sound. It also comes with all of the other compatibility and accessibility features of the C935 using the same Google TV platform but with the added option of a 55-inch model. The TCL TVs listed above all use either the Google TV or Android TV operating systems, but TCL also has options that run Roku TV OS, which is one of the best operating systems around when it comes to choice streaming service support and app provision.
TCL’s 4K QLED TVs for 2022
While TCL US is a budget brand, first and foremost, the company does offer quite a range of sets – from tiny, cheap 720p TVs with barebones features to big-screen Mini-LED sets that can cost thousands of dollars. Whether you want a Google TV over a Roku TV or you want 8K over 4K, TCL has you covered. Acting as something of a bridge between the higher-end features of the Mini LED models and the rather more affordable QLED TVs it leads the way in, the C735 has the potential to be a great all-round solution with sizes ranging from 43 to 98-inch displays – at least in Europe, with the UK set to see the 55 to 75-inch models arrive in September, with the larger 85 and 98-inch versions to follow later. All this means is when the TV encounters Dolby Vision and Atmos (DA) metadata, it decodes the 128 channels to the TV’s two channels. You do not get 3D spatial height or surround – just a slightly wider sound stage. If you want the full DA effect, you need a DA soundbar. We will be testing the TCL 8132 3.1.2 DA soundbar separately, but hint; you need a soundbar to enjoy clear and immersive sound from this TV. TCL Technology (originally an abbreviation for Telephone Communication Limited) is a Chinese electronics company headquartered in Huizhou, Guangdong Province. It designs, develops, manufactures, and sells consumer products, including television sets, mobile phones, air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, and small electrical appliances. So that you know, the TCL 2022 series TVs use the ‘35’ model number. So the C635 is a C6-series QLED. Above that is a C7-series QLED, and a C8-series mini-LED. Below the QLED is the P7 series LED/LCD (Edge-lit, no Quantum Dot). Why are we telling you this? Well, we have noticed quite a lot of the 2021 ‘25’ series and even the odd 2020 ‘15’ series at retailers, and we believe the 2022 series are quite a leap forward.
As with several of the other manufacturers we’ve featured this year, there’s a clear progression in terms of both pricing and the ever-improving features list as you work your way from the cheapest TVs to the most expensive. This means you should be free to figure out your best option either by setting a budget and seeing what fits your limit, or by determining what features and specifications you need for your own viewing preferences and line-up your choices accordingly. In what we wished was a feature for every TV released in 2022 and beyond, the RC630K can handle all four of the key HDR formats: HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. No longer should you forfeit quality depending on the HDR source, says Roku. There’s also a single USB port for plug-in media. In game mode, the G-t-G response is 15ms, and the HDMI 2.1 port is only 4K@50Hz or 2K@100Hz. Voice control – Pass+We uploaded the latest brightness measurements and uniformity photos for the Accelerated Longevity Test. TCL's flagship set, the Mini LED powered C845K is a truly impressive TV. It's the brand's highest end model, offering flagship screen tech and specs to match. Built for gamers and movie fans alike, it utilises a Mini LED panel to deliver a dazzlingly bright and punchy picture. The C635K also runs the AiPQ 2.0 processor and is able to hit a peak brightness of 500 nits, which is actually slightly higher than the 450 nits the C645K is rated at. Like the two 2022 models above, the C635K runs the Android TV operating system rather than Google TV. We are rating this as a lower-cost value device. We are not trying to compare it to other more expensive TV technologies. Image Quality You won’t find a traditional Filmmaker mode, as TCL has its own Film mode (or Movie mode, depending on your region!) with the same intention of delivering the picture as originally intended, along with a Sport mode. Everything from the C735K and above also comes with Calman Ready 3D LUT colour calibration, along with Adaptive Picture and an ambient sensor. On the audio front, all but the cheapest LCDs come with Dolby Atmos as standard, with both the QLED and Mini LED models using an Onkyo sound system – with the C835 and C935 adding an extra channel or two, along with Adaptive Sound tech (the latter also found on the C735).
Much like TCL’s US side, TCL UK offers up a slew of budget TVs with different features at different price points. From 720p TVs to 4K Mini-LED sets that cost thousands, UK TCL TVs run the gamut as well.

Our tests’ primary colours, red, green, and blue (RGB), are close to 100% accurate. Secondary and tertiary colours (like skin tones) are, at best, reasonable. It claims a wide colour gamut (93% DCI-P3), but that’s about 60% of the full 1.07 billion colour DCI-P3 movie gamut support. Do you care? Likely not at this price, as all lower-cost panels use FRC.
