While it’s recommended as a 2-person tent or 1-person and wood stove tent, you can actually fit 2 people and a stove in if you really need to. Even though the tent is made from super thin material it actually gets really, really hot inside when you are using your wood stove. There are also two large organizers with removable and Velcro-attached pouches with and without zippers. Firstly, to start from its general shape, The Russian-Bear Hot Tent is a single-room dome-style tent and is also completely freestanding. Concerning the area, as you can see, there are three tents in the series, and the capacity is determined by what you use in the tent. The floor plans are already visible above. In the case of the UP-2 Tent (5-person), it can fit two cots, a camping table, and a wood-burning stove.

Safety features

Regarding seasons & climate, if you need a tent for extreme cold, this is it. You will hardly find something better for such an environment unless you go for an insulated tent, like this Crua Tri 3 Person Thermo Insulated Waterproof Family Tent, but this is a different concept in any case. So I have included it in my list of best winter camping tents. The tent is super weatherproof and created primarily for hunting and ice fishing in extreme weather conditions. The exterior of the tent is made of waterproof, high-tech oxford fabric, has taped seams and a protective skirt around the outside of the bottom of the tent. All of this ensures rain, snow and sleet cannot enter your tent. Finally, the third layer is again a fabric and it is dressed with a zipper. Apparently, to have the unlimited sunlight through the mentioned solid window, then it is necessary to roll up this third inner layer as well.

A warm, comfy base camp– Lots of people set up a base camp from which they venture forth to go ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing etc. If you have a hot tent at that base camp you will be able to thaw out and relax at the end of the day, instead of piling on more clothes and shivering yourself to sleep. If you’re heading into the wild alone or with one other person, the Preself Tipi Hot Tent is an excellent choice. Unlike some of the bigger hot tents, one person can set this puppy up in about 10 minutes. It’s light enough to carry some distance, in case setting up near the car doesn’t interest you. But keep in mind you, or your companion, will have to carry the stove too. The detachable waterproof floor is a great option for those who love winter fishing. You can drill fishing hole, install the tent above it, and enjoy fishing in warmth and comfort. Note that the floor is with a zipper that goes around so you can unzip it if you wish, to clean for example, or you unzip it partly and have some extra ventilation. 1. Tent materials.

The latter two layers are a part of the inner tent. All three layers with their zippers are presented in the picture: Three layers on the door, the awning rolled to the side and fixed with a strap is also partly visible. On the other way, if it is used without the stove and for sleeping on the ground, it accommodates 5 people. Equally, the area of this 5-person tent is 88 ft². That means 17.6 ft² per person. Though this is enough space but you must think about all your gear. The vestibule can be attached to a UP-series tent by a zipper located on a special canopy above the doors. The five-layer windows are great for ventilation and bringing fresh air into the tent. The windows have transparent coverings made of frost-resistant PVC that can be used at temperatures down to -58 degrees Fahrenheit. There are also mosquito nets on the windows to keep those annoying buggers out of the tent. The mosquito nets on the windows and doors are removable should you not need them. It is not recommended for major storms. However, if a surprisingly strong storm comes in during the middle of the night, the additional anti-tear technology in this tent will help things stay together.

The stove ends up taking up a lot of room. So if you planned on hot camping with 3 people, you’re going to find it a bit snug. It also has two zippers that allow you to fold out one section of the floor where the stove is. Use this if you want to keep the stove on the bare ground. The Russian Bear hot tent may at first seem rather expensive, but when you take into consideration that it comes supplied with everything, including a premium wood stove and chimney, it is actually fantastic value.The umbrella-type frame holds its shape well, even under heavy snow loads. Remember, this thing was designed and tested in Russia, so if it can handle snowy Russian winters, it can handle just about anything you can throw at it. This includes high winds, which are no match for the all-metal support system that hold up the tent. The Only Problem…
