About this deal

The NHS says that a sperm test should measure at least concentration (also called “count”) and motility. Unfortunately, the majority of cheap at-home sperm tests you can buy at a supermarket or a pharmacy only measure your sperm count. In a post-Covid world, there is a growing popularity for cheap lateral flow style sperm tests that claim they can give you an indication of your fertility, but again, they only look at your sperm count and ask for no context around your lifestyle factors or health history. So, the good news is, you don’t have to give up your morning coffee altogether if you’re trying to conceive If you’re keen to make healthy lifestyle changes that support your fertility, it’s a good idea to keep your caffeine consumption to a moderate level, but most importantly, be aware of where that caffeine is coming from. However, a can of coke has around 34 mg of caffeine, and whilst that’s less than coffee, if you drank 2 cans of coke a day, the sugar intake would start to impact your sperm health, even if the caffeine didn’t. Semen does contain a mix of compounds, including zinc, calcium, and proteins, which are also found in various skincare products. However, there is limited scientific evidence to support the idea that applying semen topically can result in significant skin improvements. Collect a semen sample in a clean container: Ensure your container is sterile, and avoid any lubricants or condoms that may interfere with the test’s accuracy.

Here are answers to a few questions we are frequently asked, to help all men and their partners reading our post: Why test sperm DNA?Want to get to grips with all things sperm motility? You’ve come to the right place. Motility is all about speed and how your swimmers move – so let’s get in the learning fast lane with this easy Sperm Motility 101 guide. What is normal sperm motility? A semen sample is collected in a cup. The sample should rest for approx. 15 minutes until it is liquid. When it comes to the impact of caffeine on sperm health, research is still ongoing and the outlook is pretty mixed. It also seems to depend on that source you are getting your caffeine from.

Many men want to examine their fertility even though they do not necessarily plan to have children right away. ExSeed makes it easy for you to map status. The test is also suitable for men in relationships who want to examine their fertility in a simple way. With the pipette, which is built into the lid of the cup, a drop of the semen sample is transferred to the slide. Remaining liquid is removed from the slide. It is then inserted into the Exseed device. According to the findings, men with higher exposure to pesticides, particularly those working in agriculture, exhibited significantly lower sperm concentrations compared to men with minimal exposure to organophosphates and N-methyl carbamates. Sperm concentration is a metric indicating the number of sperm per milliliter of semen, while sperm count encompasses the millions of sperm in the entire ejaculate. Experts highlight that sperm count, in conjunction with the total number of progressively swimming sperm in the semen, holds greater significance in predicting future fertility. What are the Common Pesticides of Concern? There are many reasons why men might want to test at home rather than at a clinic. Maybe they’re right to the start of their journey and aren’t ready to commit to a clinic yet. Or perhaps they find the pressure of rising to the occasion in a cold, uninviting clinic cubicle a bit too much! Either way, there are lots of positives to testing your sperm at home – but be careful of where you’re buying your test from and what they measure. Ultimately, nothing will beat a proper lab test, which we should have done in the first place (my husband has a condition that can cause infertility so we had a valid reason to be worried).

So how much caffeine can I drink if trying to conceive?

Washing fruits and vegetables: Even if you buy organic produce, it is still important to wash fruits and vegetables to remove any pesticide residue that may be present. ExSeed analyses your sperm cells and provides you with a Semen Quality Score based on your Total Motile Sperm Count. This is a reliable indicator of the chances of your sperm cells being able to successfully fertilise an egg. Ok, so it seems like energy drinks and sodas definitely aren’t great for your swimmers – but what about your favourite oat milk latte? Well, another study looked at coffee consumption specifically and found that there was a marked tendency towards lower sperm quality in men that drank more than 3 coffees a day. Taking control of your diet. Eating more sperm superfoods and less sugary or processed foods that could harm your sperm health

Early Detection of Potential Fertility Issues: Low sperm count ranks among the most common causes of male infertility. By regularly testing your sperm count, you can identify potential issues early, allowing for timely intervention and increased chances of successful conception. Sperm motility is all about how your swimmers swim! Healthy sperm cells can make their way to the egg in a matter of seconds, and instinctively know where to go. However, if there are issues with your sperm health, it might mean that your sperm cells aren’t very fast or can get a little lost! It takes approx. 1-2 minutes before the analysis is performed, and the result is displayed directly in the app. Think of it this way. A cheap test from the supermarket may tell you that you have a normal sperm count and you could carry on with your fertility journey assuming everything is fine. But what if all of those sperm cells were dead? Or not swimming? You would still be struggling to conceive and would have no idea why.Reduce sperm motility: Pesticides can reduce the ability of sperm to move, making it difficult for them to reach an egg. Published on Wednesday in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, the study extensively examined 25 global studies related to two chemicals, incorporating 20 of them into the meta-analysis. These studies investigated 42 different impact levels across 1,774 men in 21 distinct study populations. Klinikk Hausken works closely with ExSeed Health, and it is now easy for you to test sperm quality at home in a private environment. The test can also help you with lifestyle changes that can improve sperm quality. If you later consider fertility treatment, you can take the test to our clinic for further examination. We recommend a regular sperm test and analysis at the clinic for those who have already started the fertility treatment process. The test gives you answers to the following:
