About this deal

The comparison for headsets in this space is tough. Many of the office-designated headsets have smaller drivers and aren’t particularly good at music, while larger headsets with boom microphones tend to be flashy and more gaming oriented. It's small, thin and feels really fragile. It gives the impression as if it already breaks down from just looking at it. I would prefer a better microphone which is longer and can be adjusted to my needs even if it doesn't win a design award. (e.g. Gaming Headsets like Beyerdynamic MMX300, Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless, Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE, etc.) Voit työskennellä langattomasti koko viikon, sillä latausten välinen akunkesto on jopa 37 tuntia. While most premium headphones in the price point do feel sleek and premium, there’s something about the look of the Evole2 85 that just fits better into a professional environment.

For me it's not worth the 320€ and certainly not the 540€ suggested retail price. I would keep and like it if the microphone quality and the boom arm would be way way better, but this is a no-go for a premium business headset in this price range. The problem with the bluetooth protocol ... meh, you didn't made your homework Jabra. Awesome job! While you can use the left ear cup button to toggle between sound modes, you can also do this in the Moments section of the smartphone app. Battery percentage is also shown in the smartphone app. Daily usage experiences and conclusion

What you need to know about the Jabra Evolve2 85

We set out to create instant quiet, anywhere. The result is a world-class professional headset with cutting-edge digital hybrid Active Noise-Cancellation (ANC), powered by our most advanced digital chipset ever and designed for incredible noise isolation; just put it on for instant immersion in your thoughts. It's time to change the game. Welcome to the new standard. Then there’s the sound quality. The best way I can describe the Evolve2s is that they are a work-oriented pair of headphones that happen to do music very well. When you throw on a pair of Sony WH or Bose 700 headphones, you get a pair of music headphones that happen to do phone calls well. This slight distinction is important as you’re dissecting how the 85s sound for music listening.

It’s impressive just how much battery life Jabra has managed to get in these otherwise pretty sleek headphones. It’s odd when you think about it, because while these headphones seem oriented to your desk where a charging cable is within reach, you’ll rarely need that charging cable. But, because the headphones need to be ready to use at a moment’s notice for phone calls, it does make sense. Last year I took a look at the Jabra Elite 85h headphones, which were designed to challenge Bose and Sony in 2019. That headset was focused on the music experience with better voice support than the competition. The new Evolve2 85 headphones build upon the Elite 85h with more microphones, swing-down boom mic stand, and features optimized for the enterprise.Jabra, please ... never ever, you tested this in a real environment before you threw it on the market. Most of my clients also call my cellphone, rather than my desk phone and as we continue remote work we may move the company to call service through the Microsoft Teams solution. Right now, I pair my Surface Pro 6 with Jabra Direct and my primary cellphone with Sound Plus to the Evolve2 85. Whether calls come through Teams or my cellphone, one headset is there and ready to help me respond.

Each of my colleagues said that my voice quality was poor. I couldn't believe that so I tested it by myself and what should I say ... they all are totally right. The microphone quality is garbage. Compared to my 30€ Superlux Headset, it's a total waste of money. First I thought it was a OSX issue. Then I switched to my Win10 system and the same annoying quality. This is not what I hoped to receive for 320€. The rest of the story is pretty typical here for office-style headsets. You can connect these headphones via Bluetooth 5.0 and access all of the headset controls you’d expect that way. You can also connect them via 3.5-millimeter aux in a pinch. Let's say, you create an upgraded version, maybe the Evolve2+ where all those issues are fixed, I would definitely try it again. Update 10/25/2021: These headphones were updated to Test Bench 1.5 and their latency values have changed. Our previous Test Bench 1.4 measurements reported 'PC latency' at 234 ms, 'iOS latency' at 137 ms, and 'Android Latency' at 165 ms. However, our new test bench uses an average of three measurements instead of one, resulting in different values. As a result, we have updated our text to better reflect test bench 1.5 measurements. The best way I can describe the Evolve2s is that they are a work-oriented pair of headphones that happen to do music very well. Some of that is due to the insane mic array and the design aspects required of having a seamlessly foldable boom. But some of that is related to the software and headset integration. Having UC and Microsoft Teams certifications come with some firmware hurdles and licensing costs.

Jabra offers two versions of the Evolve2 85 headphones; one for Unified Communications (UC) and the other focused on Microsoft Teams. Since I spend all day interacting with various coworkers, clients, and others on Microsoft Teams I tested out the model optimized for Microsoft Teams. I've been using the headset for the past three weeks and it has bumped the Plantronics model I was using for my remote work setup. The Jabra Sound Plus app is available for iOS and Android devices. The smartphone app has many similar settings as the Jabra Direct app with a few other options, including using the earcup microphone for calls rather than the boom arm mic. I am a bit disappointed the charging cradle comes at a surcharge, because these headphones are already so expensive and the use case of plopping them down on your desk to charge makes so much sense. Something that’s tough for over-ear headphone manufacturers to truly get right is finding the proper clamp and foam to wrap around your ears. Higher-end manufacturers in the space—like Sony and Bose—usually give you all the softness and comfort you’re looking for, but lower-end headphones tend to skimp here, making them less than comfortable.

That isn’t to say there’s no premium feeling in these headphones. All of the leather coverings feel truly top-notch, with soft touch surfaces and resilient enough consistencies. The swiveling ear cups also feel very substantial, and I’m pretty sure they will withstand their share of abuse, even if the headband itself isn’t as confidence-inducing. The leather-wrapped, hardshell case also feels premium, with a nice zipper and plenty of organizational components on the inside. Overall, I’m mostly impressed, even if Jabra did cut a couple corners here. Later the day in a 1hr meeting, it was even worse than yesterday. I had to change the headset during the meeting, because of disturbing noises, robot voice and some voice interruptions/dropouts.
