M– Congratulations on being member of the month. As mentioned here are some questions so you can tell your story. P -I joined M Squared in September 2017, that was my introduction to CrossFit, but I only did a couple of sessions then had a holiday at the end of September and started properly in October 2017. So… 15 months so far. P -There’s a great quote from Zig Ziglar which fits this question – “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great”. So I would just encourage them to give it a go, you don’t need to be fit to start, starting will get you fit. I think anyone who starts CrossFit will be surprised at how tough it is but also surprised at how rewarding it is and at themselves and what they’re actually capable of. There is nothing better than watching new members grow in confidence, strength and fitness over the months This is a rare occurrence (twice where it definitively happened), though still very emasculating. I've had women tell me (and believe it) that they are stronger than I am, and I can only assume this is because I am short. I am plenty strong enough to have done anything I wanted to these women, and of course I did not. But is there a good way to handle this? Or does it just come with the territory of being a short guy?

Lisa tries so hard and always pushed herself. Always wants to get better and has PT sessions alongside classes to help with her technique. She gets involved in classes she hates (like endurance) just so she can improve. and she has…..massively. The snatch is an Olympic lift where athletes lift a barbell from the ground to overhead in one fluid movement. A Tabata Interval is a workout of 8 intervals that alternates 20 seconds of max rep work with 10 seconds of rest. The entire time adds up to 4 minutes and it is scored using the lowest interval rep count, so you have to try your best on each interval!Oh, and I’m also a part time member (soon to be full time!) of Saturday’s endurance class! I have only attended a few of these classes so far (2 of which were test weeks – THAT BIKE!!) but they’re great for working on your engine and I will be attending a lot more regularly in the new year.

This confusing CrossFit terminology refers to running, rowing, biking, swimming, and other endurance like activities. Wall Ball is a common CrossFit exercise where athletes stand facing a wall with a medicine ball, squat down and then explosively stand, flinging the ball upward and catching it. Prepare to do this often. The other thing is, everyone starts at the beginning and of course there will be people who are naturally gifted and can walk into the gym and just start throwing around heavy weights or pulling off gymnastics movements at will (well annoying! ) but even they will struggle with some movements and workouts. There are so many different lifts and movements and no two days are the same, everybody has strengths and weaknesses and CrossFit has a funny way of levelling the field.PP stands for Push Press. A Push Press is a type of standing shoulder press used often in CrossFit workouts. Ever wonder why CrossFitter’s swing their bodies when they do pull-ups? That’s Kipping. Kipping is use of the entire body’s momentum to complete a move. In CrossFit, Kipping is common in pull-ups as well as handstand push-ups.Kip or kipping is basically using full-body momentum to do a move. Clean and jerk. A common Olympic lift, the clean and jerk is a combination of the Clean, referenced above, and an additional lift, the jerk. After completing the Clean, athletes lift the bar overhead. A series of movements completed in a sequence. For example: 10 pull ups, 10 pushups, 10 air squats, 10 situps, 10 kettlebell swings & 10 muscleups. The CrossFit Girls are a series of workouts that are foundational in CrossFit. Fran (who we met above), Chelsea, and Annie are extremely difficult, but you will encounter them many times.
