If you’re looking for a super-powerful soundbar capable of filling a large room with a potent, well crafted, detailed and fully surround sound Dolby Atmos soundstage, the S95QR is exceptionally well qualified.Occasionally a particularly sudden bass onslaught, such as the onset of a meaty explosion, can catch the subwoofer napping, leaving it sounding momentarily heavy-footed. For the most part, though, the S95QR can be relied on to deliver truly cinematic levels of the low frequency good stuff. If you’re counting, you’ll realise from the above that the main soundbar carries five channels of sound: centre, front left, front right, side left and side right. The LG S95QR talks a very good game. For starters, it pushes the idea of what constitutes a soundbar to its limit by constituting four separate components: the main soundbar, a large subwoofer and two multi-channel rear speakers. You completely forget that the physical speakers are there, at least when listening to a 3D Dolby Atmos sound stage, and instead you’re enveloped in a massive world of sound.

The LG S95QR has a fantastic selection of sound enhancement features. Like most premium bars, it comes with a room correction feature that optimizes audio reproduction based on your room's acoustics—it's called AI Room Calibration, and you can set it up in the LG Sound Bar app. You can customize the bar's sound, too, using its bass and treble adjustments as well as its EQ presets: 'AI Sound Pro', 'Standard', 'Music', 'Cinema', 'Clear Voice', 'Sports', 'Game', and 'BassBlast'. The 'Cinema' preset acts as a virtual surround mode, replicating a more three-dimensional sound. There's a night time mode in the app to balance the volume level when you watch shows at night. Despite comprising four different speaker elements, the S95QR is pretty much effortless to set up. As soon as the system was switched on for the first time each wireless speaker almost instantly and stably hooked up with the others. The LG S95QR was released in June 2022, at prices around the world that place it very much in the premium tier of the soundbar world. This seems fair enough, though, for a soundbar that posts such extreme numbers as a claimed 15 real (rather than virtual) channels, 810W of power and four separate speaker units. A simple single bar with two or three channels the S95QR most certainly is not.resolution: OLED TVs are 4K too. Experience four times the detail of a Full HD TV and see Netflix, Prime Video and Sky* at their best. The main soundbar, for instance, manages to cram in front left, front right, front center, side left, side right and three up-firing drivers. Premium Atmos soundbars typically only carry two up-firing drivers, but LG has added a third that essentially repeats the sound coming out of the more regular forward-facing center channels speaker below it.
