About this deal

Even Aeldari engines of war are swift and agile, including tanks like the Fire Prism , which uses an intricate crystalline matrix to focus energy into either destructive pinpoint spears of light that can pierce the most formidable armour or deadly blasts that can obliterate hordes of armoured infantry. Harlequins It is rare to see an Aeldari warhost without a Farseer present to guide it. These immensely powerful psykers lead the armies of their craftworld, scrying the tendrils of the future with the help of arcane runes and psychic mastery. They maximise the natural skills and power of the Aeldari, and they hinder their foes with stupefying magics and eldritch storms. Guardian Hosts Other groups of Aeldari cling to existence, including the Harlequins – who travel the Webway (an ancient network of safe* tunnels through the warp) acting as diplomats, performers, and mercenaries, and the Ynnari – who worship the half-reborn god of death as a means to finally thwart Slaanesh and recapture the Aeldari souls it ate during the Fall. What’s Good and Bad about this Box? The Aeldari Combat Patrol box offers a robust start to your Aeldari force. The units complement each other beautifully, with the Farseer’s psychic might enhancing the capabilities of the Guardians and Windriders. The Wraithlord, while not as nimble, adds much-needed toughness and heavy firepower to the army. The Aeldari are a long-lived race, but in the aftermath of the Fall, they faced a slow demise, and a horrifying afterlife – for Slaanesh has staked its claim on each Aeldari soul in death. In response, the Asuryani bound themselves to soulstones, which capture their souls at their deaths to prevent Slaanesh from taking them. In times of great need, these soulstones are embedded in wraithbone constructs, so that the dead can bolster the armies of the living. There are many such constructs, including the mighty Wraithlord , the towering Wraithknight , and beyond. Fire Prism

Farseers with FORTUNE and EXECUTIONER in Ulthwe or Children of Prophecy lists are a good example of this kind of versatility. They can score “Warp Ritual” or “Psychic Interogation” with fair reliability and spend a CP to either provide a defensive buff, debuff, or do some real damage with EXECUTIONER. Alternatively, they can pivot into full murder-mode throwing down SMITE and EXECUTIONER on the same target if something really needs to die. (EXECUTIONER is amazing in 500pt games by the way, for obvious reasons.)It comes armed with a Bright Lance for a little extra punch and it’s standard twin Shuriken Catapults. Because players have so few units on the field, losing one can be pretty devastating. As a result, durable units that are objectively hard to eliminate can do good work for you, especially because in a 500pt game your opponent has fewer resources to deal with stuff that’s really tough. One option is to anchor your list with something like the Avatar of Khaine or some Wraithblades and throw FORTUNE on them every turn- (if you go with this approach, you ABSOLUTELY need FORTUNE.) Although solid in lots of match-ups, once you add in the cost of a Farseer and a unit of Rangers to fill out a Patrol Detachment, there aren’t many points left for anything else, which can make scoring secondaries pretty tough. If you want a durable power-unit, you are better off going with a Phoenix Lord. All of them are viable at 500 points, although I think Baharroth, Asurman, and weirdly Jain Zar are probably the best. As our only HQ we’ve kitted him out a bit. He has the Kournous’ Bow relic which replaces his standard Shuriken Pistol. It gives him 6″ of extra range to 18″ as well as an additional 2 shots on the Shuriken Pistol’s 1. With a pip more strength means it’ll hit on 2’s and wound Space Marines on 3’s, but with added benefit that any successful wounds are mortal wounds (MW). As a means of calming their tempestuous emotions and keeping their ancient enemy at bay, most Aeldari devote themselves to specialised Paths, on which they hone one skill, sometimes to the point of obsession. Aspect Warriors are the Aeldari who walk the martial paths. Each Aspect Shrine is built around the teachings of a Phoenix Lord, legendary figures inspired by the various ways the Aeldari god of War, Khaela Mensa Khaine, engaged in battle. Every self-respecting Hive Tyrant needs a swarm to command, and the Combat Patrol box provides you with a whopping 36 Termagants (plus three Ripper Swarms). Even the renowned tactician Roboute Guilliman has to concede that quantity has a quality all of its own.

War Spiders can hit monstrously hard, especially with the Exarch power “Surprise Assault,” as can a 10-elf unit of Dire Avengers in the Webway with the Exarch Power “Shredding Fire” and the stratagem, “Bladestorm”.High mobility– Drukhari infantry start at a base speed of 7″, and it only goes up from there. Hellions and Reaver jetbikes scream across the board at speeds that other lists simply can’t match, and you can mount your infantry in excellent transport options to make them even faster. So overall, this will save you some a pretty solid amount, but again, you better want the jetbikes! If you don’t then this really isn’t worth it to you. Either way, you are basically getting the Wraithlord and the Farseer for free. The greatest strength of Combat Patrol: Aeldari is its flexibility. Assemble your infantry as Storm Guardians and give the Wraithlord a ghostglaive to punch right through fortified enemy lines, or muster a squad of Guardian Defenders with a mobile Heavy Weapons Platform to hold the ground claimed by your blistering bikers. Regardless of whether you are a player new to 40k looking to get started with the few models you already have, or a veteran Warhammer enthusiast with a collection so large that your wallet shudders whenever it is near, 500pt matches are a great way to enjoy the hobby. These games are fast, surprisingly dynamic, and highly tactical. In 9th edition, 500pt play presents many of the same tactical considerations as 2000pt play but with a much faster pace. It is without a doubt the best way to learn the game, and probably the most efficient way for experienced players to get multiple reps in a single evening.

On top of that, you’ll get all you need to run more diverse armies than ever before, with combined hosts of Asuryani, Ynnari, and Harlequins. The Aeldari have always been a multifaceted race, but now they’re bringing their full strength to bear and you can demonstrate that on the tabletop like never before. You might even be among the first to hear about the next Combat Patrol set, which we’ll be showing off in just one week’s time…Secondly, you can form a Realspace Raid, which means that instead of designating a detachment as Kabals/Cults/Covens, you designate it as a Realspace Raid. There’s some baseline requirements for doing this – the detachment must have exactly 1 Archon, 1 Haemonculus, and 1 Succubus, and the Archon must be the Warlord, plus there must be 1 each of the appropriate Troops choices. However, as long as you have this, everything gets access to the proper Obsession and their sub-faction specific Stratagem/Relic/Warlord trait. It’s a powerful option for taking a “mixed” force that’s a little less overhead than managing different Patrols. Then there’s the Crusade section, which is a cool way to grow and develop your army as you play games, as units earn experience and gain new skills and armaments. Tell epic stories of conflict and triumph as you blood a force of fresh troops and mould them into hardened veterans armed with legendary relics of war. There’s plenty of guidance on how to paint your chosen subfaction, as well as fascinating lore on their histories, victories, and defeats.

Which of these strategies is best depends on the list you are facing and the skill and playstyle of your opponent. HQ: Archon – 80pts – Splintered Genius, Warlord: Consummate Weaponmaster, Relic: Writ of the Living MuseAs with the Hive Tyrant, the Tyranid Warriors can be engineered for almost any purpose. Give them bone swords, scything talons, or rending claws to tear your enemies apart in melee, and gun them down at range with living weaponry like devourers, deathspitters, or the powerful barbed strangler or venom cannon. From the looks of it, this is a decent box with some good units but is very jetbike heavy, so if you don’t want any in your army, then this probably isn’t for you. Accuracy of dating conventions may vary. Games Workshop is not responsible for any temporal distortions you may experience. All rights reserved. They deploy a combination of powerful psykers who read the skeins of fate to predict the outcome of combat, soldiers who have walked martial paths that grant them skills beyond human ken, hardy walking constructs piloted by the souls of long-dead warriors, and lightning-fast anti-gravity bikes and tanks.
