About this deal

It’s a comedy action adventure film, so there should be the usual gag reel and bloopers to add to the bundles. There should also be director commentary to talk through the film shot by shot in terms of what they were trying to achieve and how it all came together. Suffice it to say, I had a blast with this movie. Honor Among Thieveswas far better than the movie the trailers sold. It’s also a damn shame Wizards of the Coast had their issues with D&D that may have influenced some true fans to stay away. Which is a damn shame because this movie is a love letter to gamers of all ages. Top to bottom the cast is great playing their respective roles and character functions with aplomb. It’s a grand fantasy with the scale of The Lord of the Rings but the fun and excitement of a heist movie like Ocean’s 11 with the action of an Indiana Jones adventure (one of the good ones). My lone complaint really is that the film feels a little long and could have been tightened up a bit, but that’s a small triviality compared to the rest of the show. I do hope this film takes off on streaming and home video, I’m ready to roll again with this particular band of heroes. The film capably masks some of the structural unoriginality with its zeal for its world and zest for its characters. The actors have a lot of fun playing Clarity/Detail: Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves comes to 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray a native 4K title. It looks quite lovely with wonderful colors popping against a crisp, sharp picture. There are very fine details on display. CGI holds up very well among home video scrutiny, and carries lots of clear information itself.

The image also free of any compression blemishes, making for a clean, clear, and The script for the film is plenty clever and smart, but never super smug. Its forced into expository stuff and world building dialogue, but has fun with it in word, performance or visuals. They make it a simpler world that easier to understand and leaves the complex stuff to be a “if you don’t get it, just go with it” type attitude that manages to work. There are quite a few cities/towns/terrains traveled in the movie, but each of them differentiate quite well and feel easy. Characters and their types function for the surface level of an audience and then for the hardcore fan who knows more to the mechanisms. In an odd sense, it feels like they have managed to find a common ground for anyone to enter the Dungeons and Dragons world and get a maximum sense of enjoyment, be they the joe schmo or the greatest DM.
