About this deal

Sometimes the wireless CarPlay adapter will not sync with the car system if it isn’t ready to connect to it, and after that time has passed, the car system can stop connecting to the adapter altogether. Usually, a restart of the car is needed here, but if you’re on the road and can’t pull over and stop the car, you can simply reboot the car stereo. The installation video says you plug it into your car's smart port, be it USB-C or USB-A, with the other USB-C end going into The Magic Box. It includes an 8-inch premium braided cloth USB-A to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable. The Magic Box takes about 20 seconds to load and displays a fun animation screen. It warns you not to use the dongle while in motion, and then deposits you in a configuration screen. The Magic Box runs Android itself, and thus has its own settings you must use—like setting it up to use Wi-Fi from your home, or when parked by the coffee shop, or off of your phone’s mobile hotspot while you’re on the road. Power consumption measured at around 1.2 W while navigating and playing music, being about 30% more than the 0.9 W of the 2.0 however. The discrepancy may very well be due to different Wi-Fi modules/modes being used. Making phone calls through the CarlinKit 5.0 adapter works in principle . There is some talking over each other every now and then which however also happens with the factory-fitted wired CarPlay . Some factory-fitted head units with integrated Wireless CarPlay , some of which only operate in the low bandwidth and interference-prone 2.4 GHz frequency band, are said to be lagging so badly that making phone calls isn’t feasible at all. How does it handle on the road? Carlinkit proves to be a simple and effective solution . The operation is similar to the previous one and, during our tests, we did not notice any particular slowdowns or disconnections. Only on the occasion of continuous and deliberate disconnections did we notice a slight drop in pairing performance.

A few caveats before you get started: Your phone can't be connected to other Bluetooth devices, not even the hands-free option for your car’s infotainment system—I had to delete my phone’s existing entry. It also can't be connected to another Wi-Fi network, which is difficult if you've got a strong signal from the house that reaches your driveway. The Cplay2Air works with the iPhone 6 and up, and you can plug it into a USB-C port if you buy your own converter cable. Při prvním připojení ve vozidle zvolte připojení CarPlay (zařízení je jako takové rozpoznáno multimediální jednotkou ve vozidle). The CarlinKit 5.0 allows multiple phones to be paired. There is no dedicated facility to select or on-the-fly switch between phones across the two supported platforms though. Here is a best practice for cross-platform phone switching that I could come up with while actively using my wife’s Android and my iPhone…The higher delay may probably be more of a systemic than an adapter specific problem. To get from phone to head unit and vice versa, data has to travel over several bus interfaces with format conversions along the way as Wireless CarPlay uses compressed but latency optimized audio formats for speech (either Opus or AAC-ELD). I tried to assess latency of the Wi-Fi part alone by issuing the p ing command from the iPhone to the adapter which measured in at 3-5 ms without massive outliers. GPS Navigation This is CarlinKit’s latest wireless adapter which takes a leaf out of its previous wireless adapters and improves on its hardware and software. CarlinKit are also calling this adapter 5.0, however this adapter connects a little differently to their 3.0 and 4.0 wireless adapters and it doesn’t allow conversion from CarPlay to Android Auto in exactly the same way as the previous models. Adopt 5.8Ghz wireless module, less susceptible to interference, faster mobile phone connection ,Support dual-band wifi connection, 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz wifi all can be used Then there are a handful of configuration switches which are meant to tweak the experience or work around compatibility issues with integrations of certain car and head unit manufacturers. Unfortunately some of the used terms are either poorly translated or not very intuitively chosen (e.g. Category which is more like an Audio Compatibility Mode ).

To use Android Auto, for once, you don’t need an app, but it does require phones to run Android 11 or higher. The Wireless Android Auto feature must be activated in the Android Auto app. Then when the interface for the U2-X appears on the dash, you must double-tap an icon on the lower left. That is not at all clear on the interface and I wouldn’t have copped to it had I not found it in the manual. Adopt authentication and 5.0~5.8Ghz data transmission , data transmission speed faster and low latencyContrary to what one might think, using Carlinkit does not require any complex configuration. To start the system, it takes just a few minutes; just connect the dongle to the car, activate the wireless connection on your smartphone, and follow the instructions on the screen. It is no different than setting up any other wireless device, whether wireless or Bluetooth. There is no guarantee for an Apple -like carefree experience which is mostly due to the fact that the CarlinKit adapters are based on reverse engineered CarPlay and Android Auto protocol implementations, potentially suffering from compatibility issues with certain cars or head units. Therefore a Made for iPhone logo is nowhere to be found. For cars already supporting wired Android Auto , the CarlinKit 5.0 adapter is certainly the better option over the CarlinKit 4.0 , performing a straight passthrough of wireless to wired Android Auto rather than a cross-conversion to Apple CarPlay . It has to be concluded that with the CarlinKit 5.0, Android Auto has the edge over CarPlayeven when being used with a mid-range Android phone with limited Wi-Fi capabilities. With Wireless Apple CarPlay, always make sure both your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi switches are set to enabled in your iPhone settings. If your wireless CarPlay adapter doesn’t show up on your car system, try connecting to the adapter’s Bluetooth ID first, and if that is connected and nothing still doesn’t show or you’re not automatically connecting to the adapter’s Wi-Fi network, go into your Wi-Fi settings and look for the Wi-Fi name from the adapter. Car interiors can be a dusty place, especially if you practically live in the car, with the amount of hours you drive in it. So if you find your adapter isn’t powering on as it did before, or isn’t connecting correctly, try removing the cable at both ends (the adapter and CarPlay port) and blow (or use compressed air if you have some available) into the USB port to remove any dust or fluff that might have been caught inside each USB port. 3. Try A Different Connecting Cable What's different from Carlinkit 4.0 ? Simple, while the previous model was only compatible with Apple CarPlay but managed to emulate both environments wirelessly, Carlinkit 5.0 is natively compatible with both worlds . The result is easy to understand: a faster , more complete, more compatible, and potentially more snappy system for managing the commands. CarlinKit 5.0 2air newest wireless car adapter for android auto and CarPlay. It can convert wired Android auto or wired Apple CarPlay to wirelessly.This method works with U2W/U2W mini/U2W plus/A2A/CarlinKit 3.0/CarlinKit 4.0 to get the latest, not-yet-public firmware (beta version) There are certainly faster bootingwireless adapters out there. It didn’t come as a surprise that boot times even slightly increased with the CarlinKit 5.0 . The reason most probably being that with the adapter performing a straight passthrough of either CarPlay or Android Auto , it has to know the platform of the phone to be connected before the negotiation process with the head unit can start. The cables that come shipped with the adapter sometimes aren’t too great. In rare cases, some cables might not work out of the box, and some are so cheap that they might gradually fail over time. Even if your adapter shows that it’s powered, the data connection in the cable might become damaged or be less efficient. From the Cplay2Air interface on the dash, you can choose between different iPhones if multiple people have them and are all vying for control. Then the screen switches over to CarPlay. Your iPhone treats this as a new instance of CarPlay, so if you have the icons pre-arranged, you’ll have to arrange them again in Settings > General > CarPlay. If none of these tips works for you, and the adapter has never worked since you plugged it in, it might be that your wireless CarPlay adapter isn’t compatible with your car’s CarPlay system.

Nutné mít povoleno bezdrátové připojení k systému Android Auto (lze zkontrolovat v nastavení aplikace v telefonu). So swap out this cable for a better 3.1 USB cable that does both power and data, and you bring new life to the adapter and make the CarPlay adapter connect again with your car stereo. 4. Force Reboot The Car SystemCompatible with OEM wired CarPlay and wired Android Auto cars. Convert original car wired CarPlay to wireless CarPlay, and convert original car wired Android Auto to wireless Android Auto.
