About this deal

The tie-in book is described as “a hilarious, colourful and entertaining compendium of surviving artefacts and documents relating to the ghosts of Button House’s past lives”. The ghosts of Button House may have been dead a long time - some of them a very long time - but they have all left their mark on the world (even if, in Robin’s case, that mark is just a handprint on the wall of a cave). The creators say: "We started kicking around the idea of a Ghosts companion book quite early on in the life of the series and got very excited about how the characters could show up in all kinds of documents and artefacts. I love this cast so much anyway so hearing them reprise their beloved characters for the book was amazing! Ghosts: The Button House Archives is described as "a hilarious, colourful and entertaining compendium of surviving artefacts and documents relating to the ghosts of Button House's past lives.

I laughed out loud at every page, written perfectly so I could almost hear each ghost's voice as I read. I’m a big fan of both Ghosts and Ghosts US so I was really interested in reading a sample of this companion book to the series.

They have a wealth of comic writing experience across TV, film, stage and radio, including award-winning Paddington Bear features, screenplays for Aardman Studios, The Wrong Man, Tracy Ullman's Show, Quacks and Murder in Successville. The additional archives from the TV show, this book contains all of the letters, flyers and important documents gathered by Alison, to document her ghost friends’ lives (and deaths)!

I’m glad they decided to release a book as it really does give us a further opportunity to get to know more about the ghosts and enjoy a bit more of the show we all know and love. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. Gathered together in this volume is a treasure trove of unearthed cuttings, original records and rare artefacts that explore the unseen lives of those who died at Button House: from Thomas's love letters to Pat's ‘Summer Camp Rap’, and from Julian's campaign promises to Lady Button's Rules of Etiquette. I mean I already knew it was epic from the brief glance I had at it but I’m so glad it’s on my shelf.About the Author: Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond are the creators of GHOSTS and all star in the series. I loved the use of the TV timetable as an insight to what they think the characters would enjoy watching as well as seeing into several of the characters various correspondences.

We get newspaper cuttings of some of Pat’s rather hilarious escapades and transcripts from some of Julian’s rather dodgy dealings and attempts to build his very own swimming pool on expenses… and the addition of the Times TV schedule spread with all of the programmes each of the ghosts have highlighted to watch was a further glorious insight into their personalities. Loved the little insights we got into each of the ghosts and I was giggling like an idiot in the staffroom while reading this at work. We're delighted to finally be bringing this idea to life with Bloomsbury to produce something we hope fans will treasure. Image shows from L to R: Robin (Laurence Rickard), Humphrey (Laurence Rickard), Mary (Katy Wix), Thomas (Mathew Baynton), Alison (Charlotte Ritchie), Kitty (Lolly Adefope), Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe), Captain (Ben Willbond), Pat (Jim Howick), Lady Button (Martha Howe-Douglas), Julian (Simon Farnaby).
