About this deal

Well, all the characters are tousled-hair gorgeous, and sleek, befitting most mainstream superhero YA, but okay. Since Taylor gives him a problem that can’t be solved by punches, this allows the series to reset itself and reflect on what type of hero Dick can and should be. I overall just really loved this volume, and this series is by far my favorite book on the shelf as of right now! Anyway, Bruno's Nightwing looks like an acrobat rather than a body builder and the rest of his figures look right to me. So we’ve got this great ensemble that reflects upon the best elements of a classic character, and we’re putting him at a new angle for crimefighting, while not deleting his history.

To them, Dick is a mere nuisance and there is a certain lack of stakes that goes hand in hand with that.

Bruno Redondo’s art was very expressive and Adriano Lucas’ colours were not overly rendered yet remained effective and atmospheric. And then Taylor went and did the old lazy trope of giving a major character a previously unknown sibling, and well, I just hate that crap. I’m a fan of Tom Taylor and I trust that his plans for the character will pay off in ways that are equal parts heartfelt and thrilling.

That sounds stoopid and I’m glad I missed it - but this isn’t a huge stumbling block and the book is easily accessible on the whole. Dick Grayson’s big heart has protected those persecuted by bullies in his youth, combated evil alongside Batman as Robin, and pledged his newly inherited wealth to enriching Bludhaven as Nightwing. However, I’m willing to go along with the surface level investigation into the average person’s problems Taylor’s scripts have Dick delve into. Nightwing has to get to the bottom of this Heartless character whilst also snooping on the new mayor Zucco, but the info he’s going to find is the last thing he’d expect. It’s about sacrifice, putting yourself before others, and showing the world that standing up for what’s right is worth fighting for. Omg Nightwing is back and this volume is so good like one of the best DC comics period and its really well written, beautifully drawn and by the end of reading it, you will have a big smile on your face!

His style focuses a lot on motion, and the different ways to display that in comics, and I feel like it’s a perfect pairing for the character of Nightwing. Overall, Nightwing, Volume 1: Leaping into the Light is a decent beginning/leaping on point/soft relaunch of this title and I hope it becomes even better as it goes on. Tom Taylor is getting to be synonomous with good quality, and his Nightwing run is yet another shining example of why. Can Nightwing, the heart of the DC Universe, stop a new criminal who literally collects hearts from the city’s citizens? On top of that, fans of Barbara Gordon will be happy with her prominence in this series, especially in regards to her romantic relationship with Dick. Unfortunately, Taylor resets Nightwing's status quo all the way back to 1996, with Dick Grayson taking a new swing at rehabilitating Gotham's even worse neighboring city, Blüdhaven, by wrenching it from the hands of crime lord Blockbuster. Those willing to hitch a ride to Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo will very likely not regret such a decision. Plus without spoiling them, those few moments where Batman actually shows up are terrific and speak to the strain on the love between them.
