About this deal

I haven't dated this but from the cover it is 1970s, given to my by a dear neighbour when I was in my teens. By rejecting non-essential cookies, Reddit may still use certain cookies to ensure the proper functionality of our platform.

I’m guessing that the only differences in each edition is the addition of new recipes with any existing recipes staying the same. Hearst UK is the trading name of the National Magazine Company Ltd, 30 Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4AJ. You can make money from selling Be-Ro books, and we’re going to show you which copies fetch the most money. The company was founded as a tea and grocery company in 1875 by Thomas Bell – who produced the world’s first self-raising flour. Maybe yours is like those rare postage stamps where there's something missing and it's worth a fortune! I have had my 39th edition since the early 90s and can find the recipes I use most often very easily, the pages stick together! this particular edition has printed authentic-looking coffee cup stains and splashes on each page, which I wasn't a particular fan of. The books are still produced today and are in its 41st edition – but they are nowhere near as popular as they were.

How lucky to have such an early one, they are probably quite rare, being nearly a hundred years old.I have a small collection of old Be-Ro books including the one I bought for myself in the 1970's and a couple of very early editions of my mum's and grandma's. If you were poking around in your mum or grandmas kitchen at any point of the 19th century, you’d probably come across a Be-Ro cooking book. There is also a pencil note next to the butterfly cakes recipe (‘Favourites of all children’) with the words ‘made them’ underlined and copious baking/tea stains (re-created in my new 41st edition). Now I need to avoid (at least for today) getting distracted by your lovely recipes - especially raspberry turnovers which are just to the right as I type this comment.
