The Northumbria Community is well-respected across the Christian Church for its solid base and adventurous exploration of Celtic themes in personal prayer and corporate worship. As a companion for the journey, this book offers meditations for the events of life, and liturgies for its seasons.

Most of the selected scriptures are short and time should be allowed after each reading for its meaning to filter down from the head to the heart, and to seek the significance of each for that day. The above permission is given on the understanding that the words and format of our Daily Office are used as written and published in Celtic Daily Prayer.

Its spirituality and the rhythm of its Celtic Daily Prayer have been a significant influence on many European Baptists, particularly through the Community’s annual visits at the International Baptist Theological Seminary (IBTS) when it was based in Prague, and subsequently in the devotional life of the IBTS Centre in Amsterdam. Much of the writings and daily devotionals bring deeper communion with God with challenging questions. After the scripture readings and meditations, there is an opportunity to pray whatever is on your mind and heart, offering to God the concerns of the day, your personal needs and prayers for other people.I had hoped for it sooner as I was on sabbatical 2018/19 and had to leave the physical copy at home. As a result, they are very precious to us and we ask that anyone making use of them does so with respect.
