About this deal

For example the same character’s relevance to Strike is mentioned in two separate chapters, yet they’re completely irrelevant to the story (do they really need to be mentioned at all? One woman is described as a power-hungry seductress who “took a used condom out of the bin” to try to get pregnant by the man she was having an affair with – I kid you not.

The agency is hired by a retired civil servant whose son, Will, was lured into joining the UHC and has all but disappeared — he no longer responds to any letters and did not even acknowledge the death of his mother, who died broken-hearted that he had disappeared from their lives. Well, this was better than the last Strike book, which was overly complicated due to the online conversations. He also manages to have a particularly ill-advised, and brief entanglement with a barrister named Bijou Watkins. Surprisingly, I was not even aware that it had been published this time, in contrast to previous years where it garnered at least some press from publications like the New York Times and Goodreads. The seventh book in this series is a big one: over nine hundred pages or thirty four hours of audio, the option I went for. She begins by assuming a false identity and getting recruited from the church’s London temple to head out to Norfolk on a “retreat” week, at the end of which she signs up to stay inside, having made already arrangements to pass on reports to the agency by covert means. The real strength of the book is the way Rowling has created the entirely convincing and creepy world of her cult sect, the Universal Humanitarian Church.

Who knew all it would take was for Ilsa and Charlotte to cease pressing Strike about the elephant in the room to spur him into action? In Cormoran-Strike-Fankreisen wurde schon monatelang gemunkelt, was wohl der kryptische Buchtitel bedeuten könnte. It pains me so much to acknowledge this, given what a huge fan I am of this series, but I was so disappointed by this book.It reads blithely like Rowling describing herself because she founded children’s charity Lumos, and she has positioned herself as a champion of women’s rights and child protection.

Charlotte Campbell Ross – Strike's ex-girlfriend who is currently married and mother to twin toddlers. Crisp', JK, please me begging for my poor wrists, not that I mind another 1000 page head spinner, LET THE COUNTDOWN BEGIN!Speaking after the release of the novel, Rowling described its main themes as "change, loss and absence" and that the book examines the "changing face of feminism". There are three breakthroughs with the case: Strike locates an elusive patient of Margot’s, Steve Douthwaite; a receptionist, who claims she was the last person to see Margot alive, agrees to speak to Strike and Robin; and, through Robin’s inventiveness and persistence in attempting to secure an interview with Creed behind Strike’s back, Strike is granted permission to interrogate Creed in Broadmoor Hospital on the 19th of September. Aber irgendwie geht es dann nicht mehr um Will, sondern um Kevin Pirbright und um diese Schweinemaskenfotos und um die Ertrunkene Prophetin.
