She begins by assuming a false identity and getting recruited from the church’s London temple to head out to Norfolk on a “retreat” week, at the end of which she signs up to stay inside, having made already arrangements to pass on reports to the agency by covert means. The real strength of the book is the way Rowling has created the entirely convincing and creepy world of her cult sect, the Universal Humanitarian Church.
