It was a desire that was amplified as I started doing longer miles and in particular when I saw how few saddle problems my touring companion Francis had with his Brooks compared to my standard saddle on our 1400 mile trip to France and Spain last year. Another benefit with this saddle is that on long hills I don't get pushed backwards, with the need to re-adjust my position every few minutes. If features delicately hand skived lower sides, where a thin stripe of the leather top surface is cut back, thus exposing the lighter coloured suede beneath which makes for an attractive visual accent and greater comfort when pedalling.There is a weight penalty even with the Ti frame, but in perspective this is less than a couple of deep swigs of drink. I have had the saddle on my touring/winter bike for two months now, and clocked up a fair few miles. The leather top is suspended over the saddle rail to create a suspended moulded seat, similar to a hammock, for tailored lasting comfort. The comfort of the Swift comes from its shape, and its suspended leather design, which offers a surprising amount of suspension. In this instance however the leather is carefully skived along the sides to reveal a lighter pre-aged leather, for pleasant visual accenting and greater flexibility and comfort for your thighs.

After two months I had to increase the tension using the simple adjustment bolt, as slight sag was evident. It was so comfortable that I didn't even notice it on a 130 mile ride, it is beautiful, and it is built to last. Thus while there is some variation in length of the rails on the three different saddles it is kind of moot point for how I have them on the bike. I have toured all over the world, but whenever I come back to this small island off the South Coast of the UK I am amazed at how diverse and beautiful the riding is here.
