Still a very nice year but it would need a year balanced towards the imperial (or a new faction) to make the theme feel better. The Soldiers and Guards minifigures were very similar save for a Palette swap of uniforms and facial expressions.I like to believe that the two pirates with moustaches where from the original set and have found themselves unlucky again (especially the one who lost a leg between 1989 and 1992). Opposing the Pirates were the Imperial Soldiers led by Governor Broadside and his second-in-command Lieutenant de Martinet. In 2002, a Lego Pirates-themed land was introduced to Legoland Deutschland Resort, based on the Lego Pirates toy theme. From 1992 to 1993, the Imperial Soldiers were gradually replaced by the red-coated Imperial Guards led by Admiral Woodside (with 6274 Caribbean Clipper and 6276 Eldorado Fortress being replaced by 6271 Imperial Flagship and 6277 Imperial Trading Post, respectively, as the Imperials' sailing ship and main base).

Lego adopted this idea and created a whole new faction, my only real gripe with the Redcoats is the fact that Lego did not make any effort to give anyone a new face design, the simply inverted the colours again swapping black for brown and vice versa.
