About this deal

A dark prologue follows horny young lamb Johnny Seabrook to a tryst that turns into a bloody slaughter. I think one of the reasons I love this series so much because justice usually wins out in some form eventually. Taken from an orphanage at twelve, Evan entered a government's covert "Orphan" program trained to kill America's enemies.

Martin's Press, and Macmillan Audio for providing me with complimentary electronic copies of this book. The President of the United States has given X an ultimatum: assassinate one of the richest men in the world or lose your life.Base elements put through a rigorous process, distilled and filtered until the result was transformed into its purest essence.

There's no doubt in my mind that these incredible tales of heroics are getting better with each iteration. But the book ended on a semi cliff hanger with a teaser of the new book that sounded really promising. Second, I don't want to hear any more women say things like, "As a liberated woman, I should (or I think. Should he kill Luke Divine for the President and his personal freedom even though Divine doesn't fit the usual profile of the "bad guys" he seeks? In the past Evan has been mostly on his own, but gradually he’s collected a sort of family, people he cares about and who he can count on.As the Australians laughed and pleaded with him, Evan closed his eyes and sampled the specialty Reyka once more. Though the young men were rowdy, cocky, and redlining their blood-alcohol, he could sense that they weren’t awful guys. So, while Evan is working his assignment for the President, he is also working on a new Nowhere Man assignment.

At some points I found myself skipping several pages and never felt I had to go back because I thought I'd missed something important to the story. Trained as a government assassin codenamed Orphan X, Evan Smoak left that life behind to protect the helpless. W—twenty minutes ago, time enough to shake the numbness from his fingertips and take his first sip from the specialty batch of handmade spirit.

Now on the run full force for the US President, he is pushed to carry out an assassination that doesn't really align with how he believes . We get the added bonus, with Smoak, of a line tapping straight into the mind of the main protagonist; even his stumbles and bumbles reveal so much, including his difficulty in traversing the puzzling domain of "the normals". In just this one review, there are so many things that a reader, who had not read the previous books, would not know, or understand about Evan, his crew or any of the previous events in his life to make him the character that he is. He left the program and has been helping people who are being oppressed, including killing bad guys.

However, in typical Evan manner, the containment, at the Beverly Hills Hotel, is brief, and Evan is rescued by none other than Orphan V, a woman that Evan once tried to kill, but now they’re allies (a whole other story). Though he managed to stay under the radar for a while, the government has found him and given him an ultimatum: Kill a powerful man of face the consequences. Evan Smoak, known as Orphan X due to his background of being trained as a governmental assassin, is known on the streets as the "Nowhere Man", someone who is committed to righting wrongs. X is finally caught, and now, instead of the promised retaliation from his captors, he is given an impossible task.We are—well, ask Bigfoot, as Brooks does in this delightful yarn, following on his bestseller World War Z (2006). Eventually, the two storylines begin to merge, which puts Evan in a position that he wasn’t trained to do, something that he has only learned recently to do, and it troubles him. There is clearly a lot of water under the bridge here but it all made perfect sense to a new reader, which I was incredibly grateful for.
