About this deal

Armani Code is clean and fresh; light enough to be worn in the AM then reapplied later in the day, or to have dissipated enough to switch gears to a different fragrance in the PM. A new sensoriality unfolds in the base, carnal, enveloping and mysteriously powerful thanks to the torrified Tonka bean and the addition of Vanilla, Natural Cedar and a Suede accord.

I wasn’t sure I would, and I wanted to give it proper wearing before purchasing a bottle, so I found a decant site and grabbed a 5ml. The fragrance brings notes of bergamot and lemon, in the output; star anise, olive tree blossom, and guaiac wood, in the heart; tobacco, leather and tonka beans, in the base.

I don’t have a giant collection so there could be better comparisons but the iris is similar to that in Gentlemen EDT Intense, just not nearly as aromatic or “minty” of the top. Strong yet sensitive, Armani Code PARFUM reinvents the olfactory signature of the original Armani Code fragrance. I would recommend this type of fragrance for night use because of it's nice leathery, spicy and chill vibe. I now understand why Ezekiel did not want to sleep with a man who smelled like that (and who had a mysterious, ointment-resistant rash). You'd be able to wear this at clubs, dates, intimate moments yet this has the versatility to grow with you as it has the potential to work as well for formal stuff such as graduations, dinner parties and professional settings where suits and ties may or may be required.

I bought this for my ex back in the day circa 2007-08 and I still stand by it as one of the sexiest scents to smell on a guy. I don't know, but I am someone who almost always hates the note of iris and I can barely detect it in this one. After that the star anise and leather make its appearance and give it a slightly sour, powdery leather smell which can smell slightly odd at times. if you are skipping this one because of performance issues (which you shouldn't care for in close encounter or in any romantic occasion) and missing on this smell and experience then what can I say.

The bottle: The Armani Code Eau de Parfum bottle boasts the same purity of line that is a signature of the Armani Code collection. Armani Code is a conservative, spicy-sweet fragrance that offers below-average performance for the fragrance type, a beautiful visual presentation and an undeniable ability to please ladies (but not girls). The year was 2008, I had just started a corporate job in a new country, and while exploring the city, I came across this gem and thought to myself at the time that I must have just discovered the best perfume in the world, so I immediately bought it. After a few hours it still has that nice freshness, but with an added tonka note, which makes the smell very addictive. I can’t speak for everyone else of course, but for the specific one I bought it’s not a bad performer for an EDT on my clothes I easily get 6 tom7 hours.I think evidence of this is the fact that the fragrance that reminds people the most of this one is, in fact, the original 2004 Armani Code EdT. The leather mixed with the star anise and tonka beans in the base notes gives it an interresting scent, which i honestly have never smelt anywhere else. Until about close to 10+ hours later when I noticed that i had a faint scent when I got home amazingly and maybe by pure chance I got a good batch but the scent was firmly planted on my skin and smelled way better than the first handful of hours. This might just be the best release of 2004, I am gutted they reformulated and placed it in a new bottle. If I had just gone by the reviews here and the note breakdown, I wouldn't have even got a sample of this.

After an hour much of the lighter soapy freshness is gone, and there's this 'old-ladys-perfume' with vanilla and floral (roses? Metallic iris vibe and strong dose of Tonka beneath it, the airy aspect helps it to stay a versatile and signature scent worthy. The name shifted in 2005 from Black Code to Armani Code, deemed "more appropriate" by De Lesquen, embodying "the ultimate code of seduction for men. A new sensuality unfolds in the base, enveloping and mysteriously powerful thanks to the torrified Tonka bean and the addition of Vanilla, Natural Cedar and a Suede accord.Sure, it might have lost a bit of intensity, but it gained a more easygoing vibe, like Armani Code took a stroll on the beach and decided to lighten up. Armani Code Eau de Parfum, the new Woody Amber fragrance by Giorgio Armani, captures an intense, yet effortless seduction. Whilst the new formulations are nice the older bottle design is iconic and makes this frag stand out that little bit more. This is my favourite smelling designer fragrance of all time but such a shame the performance isn’t what it once was. A very uninpiring and bland release, aiming to combine the freshness of bergamot, with the richness of Iris and topping it off with some Tonka sweetness.
