About this deal

I can't see any place a 20 lb hammer fits into automotive work unless maybe your working on the 200 ton coal mining dump trucks. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I could probably swing this thing at concrete all day for a year and it'd look brand new at the end of it. As a heavy equipment mech and not an animal, 6'2",225, 28 y/o, a 16lb is about max for using alot for me, a friend whose a bit smaller, asked his boss for a 20lb, swung that a few times doing jobs where the 16 wouldn't work, not a fan of it at all.

Wilton Tools 22030 BASH sledge hammer is designed for use in demolition, construction and heavy-duty tasks. Groz Indestructible Handle Hammers meet ANSI specifications "Hand Tools - Heavy Striking Tools Safety Requirements", as well as BS 876 specifications for material, hardness and performance. Being 40 and not quite the shape I was once in, I took a few more breaks than I expected due to the weight of heaving this hammer. In a professional environment you shouldn't be using a sledge hammer unless you're breaking rocks of course. With a heavy metal head and long wooden arm that enables it to be swung overarm, they can make easy work of breaking concrete. I preferred the square design over the tapered heads because if you were banging 2x4 stakes in the ground you could use the square head sideways and it wouldn't split the wood so easily as it hit the whole flat surface of the stake. In fact, I don't see any real evidence of the head deforming either (the head on my 16 pound hammer has noticeably deformed over time). Your hands will thank you if you ever miss a post with the head and instead hit the handle on the post.

I'm pretty sure I would tire of swinging a 20lbs in around 10 or fewer swings, and I work in a fairly physical job.

I also think the wise ones saying that accuracy goes down based on the weight increase is probably true, even for big brutes. Great for driving in stakes, heavy demolition work in construction like fracturing stone and concrete, driving fence posts, rebar work and bending or shaping metal. This year I'm clearing an area for a shed, and decided to get something a little bigger to (hopefully) break things up a little faster and with fewer hits.

Standard Industrial grade Sledge Hammers are suited to all general purpose heavy striking applications.I think my old ones were a tad light, but I did not weigh them and there was nothing on the head to show weight. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . The BASH does seem to be a nice sledge for sure, I think they are made in South Africa, but I have not been able to confirm this yet. I laughed and handed it to my wife (who is much smaller) and she could barely lift it over her shoulder.
