About this deal

GOOD Music was founded in 2004 by Kanye West in conjunction with Sony BMG, shortly after the release of his debut album The College Dropout. Ohio singer John Legend and fellow Chicago rapper Common were the label's initial artists, along with West himself. [10] Legend's Get Lifted (2004) was the label's first album release, leading both the artist and label to tremendous success. The album received eight nominations and three wins at the 2006 Grammy Awards. The album contained the single " Ordinary People", which was nominated for and won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. [11] In October 2006, Legend released his second album, Once Again, which won Legend his second consecutive Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in the song " Heaven". [12]

Taking inspiration from both the condensed urban centres and rural environments of Asia, G.O.D. is influenced by the concept of the eastern lifestyle as an alternative to the western way of living. The idea of such a cultural contradiction is especially prevalent in a city like Hong Kong, a city that boasts a modernised way of life combined with traditional Chinese practices. [3] Young wanted to build a brand based on traditional images of Hong Kong and believes that "the most successful brands tend to incorporate national identity. Not many Hong Kong brands actually feel very Hong Kong. I want to do something different: to give ourselves some pride and some respect. Some of our signature items have a quirky Hong Kong feel – they are unmistakable." [4] [5] Hong Kong Lifestyle Brand G.O.D. Puts The "Moon" In Mooncakes". Jing Daily. 29 August 2012 . That which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. It’s not just appropriate for what are going through now but things in general. I do really believe in challenges and if one can overcome challenges, one emerges fitter and stronger and ready to fight bigger battles. On December 19, 2022, Pusha T announced that he was no longer on speaking terms with West and has stepped down from his post as President of GOOD Music and is officially off the imprint. [60] [61]
