About this deal

I just got these a few months ago. I can’t testify to how long they hold up, but the soles are harder than a wrestling shoe. Not by the quality, they seems to be very nicely made, but they were really not made for my feet: the length was OK, but with the lace tied to maximum it was not tied at all on my foot and ankle, even with the scratch. The sole of the shoe is very rigid, which is good but with a weird shape and a big arc on the inside the was actually painful. I tried them for 10min, and it was a big no for me, so I returned them. As the name suggests these are the lowest out of the three style’s of boxing shoe. How low they rest depends on the brand, for example Rival make a low top that rests just above the ankle, where as Grants have one version that rests just a bit lower.

Adidas are one of the handful of boxing brands that make very good quality shoes for boxing. The adidas Box Hog 2 have been around for some time and are still just as popular as when they were first launched. Many boxers have this recent-model high-top Nike boxing shoes nowadays. Here in Southern California, I feel like that’s all I ever see. Manny Pacquiao made this model famous. They’re replacing the old Nike Machomai’s that everybody used to wear. They’re extremely lightweight, very supportive, appear to be long-lasting, comfortable and high performance. It feels like a very well-built shoe. Most legit pros and amateurs are using these more than any other brand I’ve seen. If there’s any complaints, it’s that some people (like my brother) might feel there’s a little more space in the ankle area than they want.Once you have found a pair of boxing boots your comfortable in you should notice an improvement in your performance. Power This is like the Adidas equivalent of the Nike Speedsweep. It’s basically a low-cost, low-top, good thin lightweight boxing shoe. Be careful: some people complained that the wrestling version is too grippy to pivot. For the maximum support, many serious boxers and those who compete, like high top boxing shoes since they securely cushion the ankle and provide better stability. They usually come up about mid-calf. If you’re prone to ankle issues or have had previous injuries, the high tops will offer the most protection.

Whether or not a shoe feels comfortable is down to the insoles and how the shoe feels when fully laced up. Furthermore having the right insoles and feeling comfortable in them is essential, as nobody wants to be thinking about their insoles when they should be training. I’ve noticed those who have Mexican boxing shoes seem to swear by them. I suspect that’s where a big part of the cost comes from. Nike and other big name manufacturers can outsource their production to china where these shoes are probably made by machine and with cheap synthetic materials (fashioned into seemingly high-quality fancy-looking designs). Mexican boxing shoes have to be made by hand in Mexico using raw materials like leather.Rival, I’ve never liked much. I think they’re made well enough, they just didn’t fit well when I first tried a pair. I didn’t like the way it felt on my feet. Too many lumps in the sole that doesn’t curve the way the bottom of my foot did. My brother loves the one he has (comfortable and fit well, still quality) but does feel like they are slightly lower quality than Nike. Buying equipment and gear for any sport, especially when you’re new can be challenging and costly. If you’re not serious about boxing or just testing it out for exercise, then you can probably get away with any good pair of athletic shoes. However, should you decide to take the sport more seriously and start sparring, investing in some quality boxing boots is recommended to help improve your footwork. Each of the three types of boxing shoe have their own pro’s and cons, choosing the right pair is down to personal preference. We all want something different from the training equipment we buy to see what you will get when buying low, mid or hi-top boxing shoes see below. Well, that’s starting to change. Just like recent trends in boxing glove designs, more and more fighters are turning away from overly-designed mass-produced gear and starting to favor more boutique brands that offer all-leather construction and can be custom-made with different designs, colors, and embroidery. That’s what the pros use after all! I have noticed that high-tops are not only good for ankle support but can also make you feel more powerful when throwing punches. I don’t think it’s so much that the shoe actually gives you support and makes you more powerful. My theory is that because the shoe is bigger and touches more of your leg, you become more aware of your entire lower leg and move more of your body in unison together which then gives you more power and support. I do feel like the guys with high-tops are less likely to jump around into weird overly-crouched or contorted positions (because the shoes are less comfortable when you do that) and so their legs are more often in positions that give more balance and power. 5. If you are new to boxing you might be wondering, why do I need boxing shoes? and what is wrong with wearing trainers? As mentioned earlier the level of support your shoes provide is up to you and down to personal preference. Material Hi tops rise a few inches higher than mid tops and typically stop just below the calf muscle. The benefits of hi tops are the extra ankle support that they provide and the added feeling of been more secure in your stance. The only downside is that some people feel a little restricted in their movement when wearing a hi top.
