Millar, who co-created the Kingsman comic-turned-movie franchise, and the streamer announced a Millar work, King of Spies, which will be the author’s first original graphic novel. The only criticism's I could really throw at it are the fact that its four issues and out, seemingly. He drank, smoke, and womanized his way through the world, and loved every minute of it, or at least that’s what he’s told himself.

There’s greed and corruption at every level, untouchable despots he was forbidden to go near and a system he just doesn’t believe in any more. Let’s start with the good about this tale of the world’s deadliest British superspy who receives a terminal cancer diagnosis and decides to spend his final months assassinating every powerful person who deserves it. The way that he draws action also has an undeniable dynamism to it, which works very well in this issue. My one main concern going into this first issue was that they would squander the fascinating concept of what is essentially an older James Bond atoning for his lifetime of debauchery and sin. Spurred on by a fatal cancer diagnosis, Roland decides to make things right, in the only way he knows how: Kill everyone that has ruined the world, and leave it a better place for the son that hates him, and the grandchildren he’ll never meet. Netflix is describing the graphic novel by saying a “translation of this original Netflix property is written by Millar and will also be drawn by a superstar artist chosen from the comic book world, based on designs created by the team at Netflix. Story wise though it is serviceable to the genre an exciting read, but nothing of real substance yet. In King of Spies, Britain’s greatest secret agent faces his deadliest enemy yet – his own mortality. But, it is so much more than this as Mark Millar and Matteo Scalera gives us a man who begins to question his past and the actions he took out of duty to Queen and country.

MOTHERS OF REVOLUTION,’ CONCLUSION The war, which not long ago was everything, now seems insignificant in the face of the unimaginable destructive power of the stone. It might be the need to mention dodgy American presidents, British royal princes who need shutting up, someone who caused a car crash that killed a princess (? But there is still hope, for even as the world unravels, mortal enemies unite and the true meaning of Gottfaust’s prophecy is revealed in this, the double-length finale to our EPIC saga. The art by Matteo Scalera is very scratchy and some may not jive with it, but I personally thought it was great.
