A proud wig-wearer, Bob has a crush on Sandi Toksvig as a running gag. Though he is often led to frustration by the antics of his friends, Bob and his friends always manage to pull through tough situations with teamwork, which they celebrate in the closing credits musical routine of the show. Set in Bob Mortimer's home, each episode sees Bob frustrated by the uninvited lodgers, visitors and guests who constantly fill his house. Vic Reeves is the long term and mostly unwanted guest in Bob's house, always treating the place like his own, with little regard for his reluctant host's wishes. Living alongside them is Bob's Norwegian son, Erik and next door is Julie, who lives in a haze of imagined fantasies.What I see when I watch this program is 2 middle aged men with no particular skills or ability who have probably failed at any attempts at any sort of career and have resorted to bottom of the barrel easy-to-write gags with no character based humour at all. The setup for this show comes in form of 10 second lines for each character which are sung in such a way as to make us think "oooh how random and fun!" - My understanding is that one of them owns a flat, the other one is just there for no reason - and Matt Berry (doing his usual character) turns up every so often. Bob's best friend and housemate, acting as both a source of annoyance and a voice of reason to Bob. Vic tends to be more easy-going than Bob, with more of a sense of awareness about the bigger picture. Vic is willing to go out of his way to help his friend Bob out, though he will often indulge in strange and juvenile behaviour, such as stealing wigs using a trained hawk from a wig-wearer's convention. He often starts the episode with a song, usually to the tune of " Day Trip to Bangor". House of Fools was recommissioned for a second series in March 2014.
