About this deal

To protect sensitive information—sent mostly from himself to himself—he spent hours creating elaborate codes and writing them into tiny paper books. During the next three months, Evil Dead left a path of destruction through the South as wide as Sherman’s march to the sea. Campbell directed, produced, and featured in the documentaries Fanalysis (2002) and A Community Speaks (2004); co-wrote, directed, produced, and featured in the movie Man with the Screaming Brain (2005); and directed, produced, and featured in a parody of his career My Name Is Bruce (2007). I adventured outside with fireworks, sharp objects, personal building projects and other assorted life and limb risking projects.

Campbell is known for frequent collaborations with the aforementioned Raimi, his brother Ted, Josh Becker, and Scott Spiegel. He takes particular pride in his episodic TV work [including a memorable turn on The X-Files] and in indies such as Josh Becker’s 1997 real-time crime caper Running Time [which is really great]. To be honest, I don't think I've ever been able to finish any star's autobiography, simply because of the smarm and conceit that laces the pages, and my simple nauseating ethics that keep making me wonder if this person really NEEDS me to contribute another dozen bucks or so to his or her estate.

Four generations later, my grandfather ventured westward to attend the University of Michigan as a pre-med student. Eventually, the thrill of these games wore off, so Don and I resorted to more drastic measures: burning the little green men into puddles of goo. Campbell occasionally drops in comments about what's changed since he wrote the book; I can't remember when he did the audiobook, but I think it was 2014 or 2015, right in the middle of Burn Notice. As a kid exploring the woods between these upper-middle-class homes, the city might as well have been a million miles away.

Campbell has starred in B-movies, been a bit actor in blockbusters, and has also both directed and written for film/t. This worked until Mike drilled a hole through the wall of our linen closet and rigged a coat hanger to the drawer itself. If Chins Could Kill was originally published in 2000, but was re-released in audio AND with new photos in 2010. I'm always interested in what the life of an actor is like (how movies are made when it's winter and what kinds of things have to happen behind the scenes to make a movie), including what kind of variation there is Had I my druthers, I would have signed Campbell to a three-volume deal, but it's clear that Campbell is not taking the stance of a bigwig gracing the little people with details into his personal life, and that's another refreshing item about this book, in that it is full of warm self-deprecation and even a little bit of amazement at where he has come to.Among other things, we destroyed the paint job of a white pickup truck, bent the housing of our 16mm camera, ripped the roof off a rental truck with the help of a low-slung tree branch, and crushed the septic system of my folks’ house in northern Michigan. I can’t say that I was the first Campbell to be published, because George John Douglass Campbell, eighth Duke of Argyll, kicked out a half dozen books in the late 1800s—my personal favorite being The History and Antiquities of Iona. I bought the sequel, Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor, and now I have to decide if I'm going to read it, or get the audiobook as well. It's an entertaining read detailing the exploits of the man whom you'd think would be a lot richer and more famous than he actually appears to be.

About two hours later, Brother Don, scouting for an additional vantage point, lost his footing and tumbled headfirst off a nearby cliff. We weren’t versed in the etiquette of location shooting, so no effort was made to get permission of any kind. I couldn't really rate this 5 stars though, because there were some parts of it that I was just like "Ehhh, ok then" about - like a lot of the stuff about his childhood with his brothers, which was funny at times, but didn't really interest me much. I think I was sold on this book early on as I could identify with a lot of the "childhood" stories BC related here. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce.

I am a fan of Bruce Campbell and I guess that helps but I didn’t quite expect it to be as funny as it was. For everyone else, it acts as a wonderful reminder for just why they fell in love with him in the first place. Many contained wording that would make a defense attorney proud and all fines were payable on demand. The whole story of evil dead is pretty fantastic and hearing about them all growing up together was fantastic. With a quirky assortment of rants, as well as self-deprecating chapter titles like ‘The Higher the Budget, the Lower the Part.

He kept incredible diaries throughout his entire early life and friendship with Raimi, and his accounts of being a goofy kid on the outskirts of Detroit diving head-first into the wild world of film making are meticulous and hilarious. He has great love for his friends, respect for his coworkers, and a general interest in the plight of every person that he comes across. For some reason, even though Don did " hit, disobey, lie, steal stuff, and destroy," I don’t think my mom would have let Mike off the hook. Lee Cronin: "Bruce came over to Ireland when we were working on the sound and I asked him if he would do this teeny, tiny, little cameo for me. Most recently he wrote the introduction to Josh Becker's The Complete Guide to Low-Budget Feature Filmmaking.
