About this deal

Thoughts: Great looking stove with an original and unique look. Definitely not your traditional stove. Lightweight and compact design. I question the high output claims. I am seeing more Kimberly’s in Tiny Spaces but it seems that most of them are dealers for the stove. Have yet to see, what I feel, is an honest review of the stove from an unbiased party. The cost is substantial at almost 4x’s the price of similar stoves. Do you have a small fireplace? Do you want a stove but cannot find one that fits? Look no longer…you have found it! Furthermore, an electric heater is extremely easy to clean, requiring only a wipe down with a damp cloth or a dusting now and then. Cooking Capability: Some potbelly stoves come equipped with a flat top surface that can be used for cooking or boiling water, adding an extra layer of functionality. The chimney is a crucial step in the process of installation, and it can prove dangerous and even deadly if installed improperly.

Absolutely! Many were used for cooking and boiling water, making them versatile fixtures in homes and other spaces like train stations. The Clarke Junior Victoria II stove is a cast iron stove with the classic embellishments of a Chinese-made stove. The chimney is probably the most difficult and important part of this project. No stove or fireplace will work without a good chimney draft! Therefore, it was essential for me to finish the chimney, and then work on the stove itself. In addition, the weather was getting worse, and installing a chimney on the roof in bad weather is not the best idea. First, I marked out and made a hole in the ceiling of the workshop. In this case, it was necessary to take into account the exit of the pipe to the roof. According to fire safety standards, the chimney must be at a certain distance from the wooden elements of the roof! Before that, I treated several times the wooden beams of the roof with a special agent for fire safety. After I made a hole in the concrete ceiling with a puncher and cut off the excess reinforcement, I immediately set up a laser level to mark the exit of the chimney in the roof of the house. For greater rigidity of the reinforced concrete ceiling, I fixed additional connections from metal reinforcement by welding. While there are likely local codes you will need to consider, the National Fire Protection Association has guidelines that usually form the basis of local ordinances. Glenwood is perhaps the most well known of the manufacturers to take the pot belly styling cues and make them its signature underneath layers of increasingly opulent additions of chrome ornamentation.

Thoughts: Simple little cast iron stove with a built in stainless steel heat shield. Much like the old pot bellied stoves it doesn’t have many frills but it gets the job done. Very affordable and potentially a great option for tiny spaces! Maintenance is also streamlined with a strategically placed ash door and tray. Even though it’s EPA-exempt for coal burning, safety isn’t compromised, with features like a cool-touch spring handle standing testament. This solid cast iron stove, with dimensions of 36 x 21.6 x 19.5 inches and weighing around 200 lbs, promises longevity while radiating heat efficiently. The integrated draft controls on both feed and ash doors, along with an included pedestal base, further accentuate its functionality and aesthetic appeal. Verdict

Thoughts: The Midget is like the Tiny Tot but bigger. Simple little cast iron stove with a built in stainless steel heat shield. Much like the old pot bellied stoves it doesn’t have many frills but it gets the job done. Very affordable and potentially a great option for tiny spaces. Durability: Many potbelly stoves are made of cast iron, a material known for its durability and longevity. With proper care, these stoves can serve your heating needs for many years. The first thing I did was make the chimney. For this, I used pipes of two different diameters: 135 mm and 115 mm. Due to the fact that the pipes were covered with rust, and in some places with paint, I had to pre-treat them with a belt sander. I also used an angle grinder with emery and abrasive wheels. My house has two levels, and the workshop is on the bottom floor. Therefore, I led the chimney through the ceiling in the workshop to the second level, and then it goes to the roof through the attic. Due to their compact size yet effective heating capabilities, they were ideal for heating public spaces like train depots and small classrooms. Further, evolving building regulations and insurance constraints made the installation of older, non-compliant wood stoves increasingly challenging. High clearance distances were mandated for older stoves, and some insurance policies wouldn’t cover them at all. This relegated the pot-belly stove to more of a collectible status than a functional unit. Though some avid DIY enthusiasts managed to navigate these restrictions, for the majority, the pot-belly stove ceased to be a feasible heating option.

While charming and historically significant, many potbelly stoves aren’t as efficient as modern wood stoves, which often feature advanced combustion technology.

Buying guides

If carbon monoxide does not properly vent to the outdoors (or if ash and burning bits of wood or coal find their way into the room or into the wallboard), there could be tragic results. Dual Fuel Option: Many potbelly stoves offer the flexibility to burn both wood and coal. This dual-fuel capability allows you to choose your preferred fuel source based on availability and cost. Make sure you have adequate space for your pig. Pigs that live indoors don't live as long as outdoor pigs. Pigs like to eat grass and roots and they will "root up" your yard. Make sure you have a place for them that you don't mind them digging up. They like to take their noses and dig up the earth for worms and such. Pigs also enjoy fruits and veggies. I take all my veggie and fruit scraps to them and they gobble them up in no time! Grapes are my pigs favorites!
